I have just been looking at the gallery and the articles, and I see that most of the sling design articles have complex designs, and require the use of a few complex tools, such as needle nose pliers, etc. I use two pieces of wood tied together as a clamp for braiding, a knife for cutting, and a pencil to mark out where the pouch should be. Maybe this limits the sling styles I can make, but I am fairly sure mesolithic man didn't have such tools, and slings were made then. I guess, in spite of my age, I am a primitive traditionalist. In fact, often I don't even use a knife or pencil in the design, and use bamboo to burn off the offcuts by friction, and plant juices to mark the pouch. And maybe the reason I don't use complex tools is because I myself don't have any (although of course my parents do). And maybe I should not complain about people using tools. After all this website is for all types of slingers, whether they be using traditional, primitive slings or modern, tool incorporating slings. And perhaps I am not looking hard enough in the articles section, but I can't find any articles that use really old style methods for old style slings. Perhaps I should write an article. But promise not to laugh.
