There are great instructions in the articles section of the site:

http://www.slinging.org/articles.html

Check out:

• Making a simple sling: An illustrated guide  - Chris Harrison
• Making a braided sling: An illustrated guide  - Dan Bollinger

That should get you started,
Chris

You might also want to spend some time looking through the Gallery, as they say a picture is worth a thousand words.
To get there just click on the slinger at the top of the forum page and make the selections on the homepage.
But don't be a stranger, asking questions here will get you lots of additional info.

....and as you get into the sport, you'll end up wanting to try different pocket styles, cord lengths, cord materials, and slinging techniques before you settle into something that seems to suit you.   And even then you may want to change again.   Because of that, I make slings using simple pockets, braided 3mm nylon cord from the hardware store, and simple knots.  Current slings use 2 lengths of cord on each side.  Length from pocket center to knot is 25 inches.   Tomorrow, who knows....      mgreenfield
