Title: Slinger from the Netherlands Post by valley_slinger on Jun 3rd, 2026 at 5:30pm
Hello fellow slingers. Greetings from the Netherlands from a new member.
Slinging for a while now and i'm starting to develop the right feeling, but still need to practice a lot. Are there more slingers from the Netherlands on this forum? I've also included some photo's of the slings that i made. Best regards, Robert One_012.jpg (89 KB | 1

Also what is the purpose of the whippings in the middle of the cord? Looks like its tapering on the red one but the tan one has two whippings on the release cord and doesnt seem to taper much on the one closest to the pouch. Photos are often deceiving though

Welcome from Pennsylvania, USA!
Beautiful slings! :thumb: We've had a number of members from the Netherlands. No one who's particularly active at the moment comes to mind though. |

Hi all,
Thanks for the replies! The braided cord material is macrame cord 2.5 mm, which i got from a dutch hobby shop. The braid is started with an 8 strand round braid, then six, and the last part is an 5 strand flat braid. The whippings in the middle are done to give the transitions between the 8,6,and 5 strand braid a bit of a smoother appearance. In the Netherlands there aren't that many places where you can sling. There's a stoneshore about 40 min by car from the place where i live and that's the only place in the vicinity where i can practice undisrupted. Most of the time all other spots are all to crowded with people and we don't really have a ''weaponry'' culture in the Netherlands, so there's easily frowned upon. Robert |

Beautiful atmospheric photos! It feels like you're an artist at heart, which is great. I am glad that you are on this forum. It's also hard for me to find a place to throw rocks. That's why I throw balls more often and have now switched to bags of river sand. They are heavier than balls and have better control when thrown. But you have to be careful with them when you throw on the playground. Yes, it's not a stone, but the impact of a bag that weighs 100 grams is very strong.
