Title: Slinging 2.0
Post by Tomas on Apr 13th, 2026 at 8:54am
Hey there!

Old friends and new:

Been slinging on and off for a while now and although I have gotten better over the years I strive to improve and become reliably accurate.
A lofty goal haha

Anyway, I am curious if the community has advanced while I have been out of touch.

I have seen some newer(to me) slingers on YouTube who are pretty impressive.
Has anybody got it down to a teachable science yet?

As the years continue I will no doubt continue to improve.but thought I would see whats new around here and hopefully learn some more about a great lifetime pursuit

Welcome back!

Definitely a lot of youtubers out there who are making the rest of us look silly ;D

Recently some of those channels have done a great job of documenting some of the more advanced technique points that most people discover on their own over months/years. But no fosbury flop moment yet, it's still bit of a grind for newbies that aren't familiar with any throwing sports.

Pan Slings, Primal Slinging and Neandrthal come to mind - all have fantastic videos covering their own unique styles in great depth.

In my experience teaching usually starts out with David's excellent video which, within a couple of rounds, can get brand-new people to the point where they just need to get familiar with their own body motions and refine with time/practice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4-LpLtrGqs

Yep.  Go stay with Jaegoor for a couple years.  :D

On a serious note, a tip I would give to anyone is do the Online Slinging Competition: https://slinging.org/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1676666931.  There's all levels of skill participating, and it keeps you practicing every week.

Good to see you back here!  :)

Hey y'all thanks for the kind words and suggestions!

Going and training underneath someone would be pretty rad but in the meantime, I do like the idea of seeing what challenges I might be capable of.

By the way!!! Any other slingers in Eastern Canada present?
