Title: Polish Sling Championship
Post by joe_meadmaker on May 26th, 2025 at 3:39pm
I came across these videos on YouTube.  I ran some searches here but couldn't find any posts about it, so not sure if this event has been brought up before or not.

It looks like an absolute blast!

Oh, I saw that video of the wolf and the big goliath with separate body parts. But I guess I didn't watch it all because 1v1 and 4v4 fights are kind of new.
And in general, I think this approach with the variety of competitions increases interest.
And overall they throw pretty well!

Whoa this is fantastic! We definitely gotta pick up the sling battles for down south next year, that would be a ton of fun!

These guys definitely have some good slingers, do we have any of them on the boards here? Hope to see some at worlds in ibiza!

You and I are of the same mind.  :)

Admittedly I haven't watched every minute of these.  I will.  But I found them at the end of the night and haven't had a chance to revisit them yet.  The only one who jumped out at me is Uwe.  He's in the battle of the third linked video.  He's hubert on the forum here.  He hasn't posted for a while, but a fantastic slinger and superb sling maker.

You will enjoy every minute! They are fantastic, even with the missing audio because of the copyright kerfluffle. He did a great job of editing the video in a way that keeps it entertaining.

The game rules are pretty well thought through, although there is the same speed throwing advantage(vs accuracy) that balearic speed rounds suffer from.

It was interesting to see Uwe get left so far behind by the other guy, but I noticed many of Uwe's hits were on the shield - almost like he was TOO accurate in always trying to get body shots as opposed to easy net shots. And that in addition to a slower throwing speed vs the other guys' fast figure 8.

Yeah, the other guy's rate of fire was definitely a big factor.  I went back and counted the shots.  Uwe had 23 and the other guy had 32.  And it's not just about getting a high shot count.  When you've got a ball flying toward the other slinger, he can't be firing back at the same time.  So a higher count also drops the opponent's count.  And I agree, the other guy (I should look up his name in the video.  I'm starting to feel bad about calling him "the other guy"  ;D) seemed to be going for net shots a lot more.

We definitely need to do this at the next Down South.  It might have to be a separate thing though.  If we did a full bracket to get to an ultimate winner, that would be a lot of matches.  It's probably a lot more tiring than one would expect too.  We'd probably need several hours just for this.  Maybe a Friday or Sunday event apart from the normal slinging games.

I had the exact same thought about calling him the "other guy" haha Maciej is his name!

But yes, it would be very time consuming and tiring so that'll need to be taken into consideration. I agree with the bonus day before/after the main competition - since I imagine participation might be a little less than the rest of the competition anyway, those that are interested can show up a day early or stay late to make it happen.

100% agree.

Hi all, just joined the forum. I am the one responsible for the videos. Happy to see that we are being noticed by the international slinging community. Are there no other event out there that are featuring slinging battles?

I'm fairly new to the sport myself, but it's the first I've heard of. Seems like nothing here in the US anyway. I've heard of the occasional sling dodgeball, but nothing more than that.

But color me jealous and inspired to start it up here! I shall bring a shield to Down South next year and if I'm the only one I shall crown myself champion  ;D

@IronGoober Your stuff is also great. I love your video where you throw over 400meters! I wish I had a simmilar spot like you to practice long distance throwing.

Slingshot fights are very exciting. My friends and I have been practicing such sparring since 2022. And they even came up with several variants of the rules of such fights. This is a short video with the rules of two targets. A 2x2 or 3x3 game. Be sure to use a helmet and shield.  We only allow slingers over the age of 16.

That's cool!  Looks like a lot of fun! :thumb:

If anyone has trouble with the link, try this version: ftp://https//dzen.ru/video/watch/65590b0c5c091a6cdd204d93.  My computer didn't seem to know what to do with the original.  It tried to open it in Finder (I'm on a Mac).  But with the end stuff chopped off it just did the captcha thing to say I'm a human and the video opened right up.

When we play indoors, we set up falling targets. Of course, it's more interesting when the target falls with a crash when it hits. Unfortunately, there is often a strong wind outside. That's why I made woven round target nets that catch the ball.

Another old video from 2022 from our ASB training is an Antique Shooting Battle. This video should also be on my YouTube channel Sport-Teleport, but unfortunately I can't go there and send a link. If Joe helps, he can easily find it on my YouTube channel.

The links you're posting are fine.  The only thing that seemed to give me a problem is the ?share_to=link at the end.  If that's deleted, no problems.

And yeah, Snow Serg has a lot of cool stuff on his channel: https://www.youtube.com/@Snowsergei.  I'll make sure it's link in our social media list.

***Update - Yes, you're already on our list of YouTube channels: https://slinging.org/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1698109585.  I know you unfortunately can't get to any of them now, but we have you there.  And I noticed something else too.  Your top video is at 182K views!  I'm going to add you to our YouTube Champions list: https://slinging.org/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1702949697.

I think sling duals would make a great Olympic sport.
