Title: Happy Thanksgiving... What Are You Thankful For? Post by Rat Man on Nov 28th, 2024 at 8:58am
Happy Thanksgiving to all. I've asked this before but it's been a little while and there are many new members so what are you thankful for?
My needs are simple. I'm thankful for eating well. It's something many people in America take for granted. Most people throughout the world aren't so fortunate. I'm thankful for this current run of good health. I don't want to jinx myself so we'll leave it at that. I'm thankful for this warm, dry little house. And I'm thankful for my three beautiful dogs who keep me from being lonely. |

When I got out of bed this morning there was a Thanksgiving surprise walking across the yard. A line of more than 20 turkeys! I've seen turkeys in my yard many times. But never this many at once.
And don't ask. I didn't sling at them. ::) |

And to answer the question, I'm thankful for the time I still have left with certain family members. We can certainly lose loved one unexpectedly at any time. But when people reach a certain point in life, it starts to become clear that time together won't last forever.
I'm thankful to be stable in life such that I can explore interests when I want to (for the most part). I'm glad to have friends to share good times with. And she drives me crazy on more days than not, but I'm glad that Misty moved in when she did. |

Nice animals (including the turkeys!)
I'm not from the US so I don't celebrate thanksgiving. I actually don't know too much about it, is it just a holiday in the US, or do some other places celebrate it too? In any case, I'm also grateful for my family. Even though it's a fair bit smaller than it used to be, and it wasn't that big to begin with in Australia since not many of the greater family moved here, I'm very happy to have my immediate family at least. |

It does exist in other countries, but every country that celebrates it has their own reason for it. It's pretty big in the US. I'm not sure how popular it is anywhere else. In the US it basically started as a celebration of a good harvest in the "new world".

Interesting. I suspected maybe it would be celebrated in other North/South American countries, but I had no idea it's celebrated by some in Europe.

As a Christian I am thankful for God and His Son first. My family isn't so bad either. Daughter is 15 now, kinda getting a little weird but think she might be a keeper. Let's throw her in the list as well. My dog is questionable. Pretty sure she's possessed by the spirit of an angry Karen.
Also and all kidding aside, this year especially I am grateful to be alive. |
