I'm all for old traditions, and have seen some really cool war dances. But wearing a shirt and tie while doing it looks kind of silly.

Haka isn't just a war dance. It is a form of expression for a people who has no writing. So there are therefore different kind of haka : warrior, mythical, ceremonial, funerary. To celebrate a wedding, haka is traditional. If members know the history of haka, I think many of us are applicants. |

While looking for websites on the haka, I found this one in the archieves of the French TV :
https://fresques.ina.fr/danses-sans-visa-en/parcours/0007/haka-through-the-ages-from-the-founding-myth-to-the-rugby-field.html Without being complete, it clears a little our preconceptions. Icing on the cake, it is here transleted into English (for the few members who don't speak French ;D) |
