Title: c_a died
Post by Rat Man on Nov 23rd, 2022 at 7:35am
Apparently not many have noticed because the news is buried in the "Not a well aardvark" thread.  c_a died last night.
Though we never met in person I considered him a dear friend.  This loss stings like hell.  I am without words.

I think you said is Rat Man.  Without words...

Miss you so much already CA.  Wherever death's journey has taken you, you will be remembered.  RIP sling brother.

Just very upsetting to hear. I had been emailing him back and forth a few weeks ago as well.  I think it was before he got sick. Also on the 18th I was in a car accident,  and then lost my grandmother that same night. So this week has been horrible to say the least.

We lost someone who made huge strides in the slinging community.  With his 3d printed equipment.  I will cherish forever.

Although I haven't been a member of this forum for very long and haven't contributed much. I've read it religiously every day since I was 14. And from that time on, I've always looked up to and admired CA. I just can't believe he's gone. Rest in peace Curious Aardvark.

Being present on multiple different social media platforms (WhatsApp, Facebook, this forum, Instagram, Discord) I've seen so many people express their shock and sadness at this news. The sheer diversity of backgrounds truly shows his impact. From Guam all the way to here in Finland, across the US, India, Australia, across the whole of Europe, there are people deeply saddened by this news. That's quite an impact.

He was a pioneer, a peer, a supporter and a friend to me.
So many of us have learned and gleaned from him and through that influence he lives on in us. Grateful and saddened by this news.
To his family and loved one I send my sincere condolences.
RIP to a man who upheld us all

In the forum's early days, he called me once. Long distance from UK all the way to Hong Kong just to chat ( long distance calls in those days costs an arm and a leg!). Great guy, will surely be missed. Sorry to have never met him in person :'(

Rest in peace, my friend.

Terrible news. I hope his family is ok- is there any way we can get together to do something like send some flowers?

Just had an idea- is anyone here good with editing videos? Maybe we could all send some kind words about how we felt about Alex and have this compiled into a little video to send to his family? Just so they know how many people he reached?

Last Sunday  the individual stones Balearic Competition was held in Mallorca and there was a moment of silence for Alex and for two other people which was followed by the sound of sling lashes.
I was not there, but there's no doubt it was very moving.

@Joana - Thanks for sharing that information and the video.  That's very nice to hear.  There was a moment for silence for Alex at the beginning of the last Practical Paracord competition as well.  His passing is definitely touching a lot of people all over the world.
