Back when radium was first disovered,one the first thing people did with it was make a similar "health drink" out of it called Radithor. It also was made into toothpaste to make the teeth shiny white. Then people's jaws began to fall off and cancer rates soared.

Yes, the Radium Girls. They would take the radium paint home and play with it. When they got sick the company tried to blame the illness on their "loose and wanton lifestyle". They knew what was happening, but there was too much money involved.

   When I was a child I had a wind up alarm clock.  It's hands were painted such a pretty glow in the dark blue-green.  We used to love to get our faces up close to it in the dark.  Every watch I owned until I was a teen had radium on its face.  Little wonder why I've had cancer twice.
