Title: Slinging a watermelon!

This definitely takes the top position for the heaviest projectile I've ever thrown with a sling.

There's something I can now cross off my bucket list.  I've seen someone sling full sized watermelons.  Great video!

Sorry joe, I cheered for you to throw despite your plead  ;D
Perhaps a pirouette throw would spare your wrists?

But you know what to do for the halloween challenge now  :D

Pirouette is a style I still haven't practiced enough to be any good with (unfortunately).

But there's actually no problem for the wrists.  The glove with a built-in wrist strap is very helpful.  But the real savior is the two-handed slinging technique.  It's difficult to explain how much that helps with slinging really heavy stuff.  It does such a great job of distributing energy over the wrists, elbows, and shoulders that I've never had an issue when using it.  The only thing to be careful of is lower back.  If anyone ever wants to try this, keep that core tight until the projectile is long gone.  And definitely start with stuff that isn't too heavy and work up.

Oh, Halloween...
Wonder how far I could sling a 20 lb. pumpkin.  ::)

For some reason, slinging a football looks like the greatest thing ever  :-?

Joe's throw was a joy to watch.

My summer vacation ends now. The rush begins.  :(

I can slinging the football further than I can kick it.

One of your commenters on YouTube said he'd like to see you sling a "real" football.  Of course real is a relative term but if you could get hold of an American style football and sling it with a good rifled spin I bet it would fly over the hills and far away.

The spin requires a sling similar to Joe.
My sling is just a "network". It only releases the ball. It doesn't spin at all.

But: I do have a dog toy: an American football (Half of the original). It has been waiting ten years to be thrown.
