Good find.
To follow up to a recent post, there is no fingerloop and the straps are equal.
Holding the sling is probably in full hand. Just my idea.

I do see a loop on one end of the cord. Look closely.
If I had to guess how they gripped it I would guess a 'tight grip / full fist'
due to the long length

At the place of "the loop", the strap is seen from the side. So I'm pretty skeptical.
Just my idea but I think that there is no fingerloop.
But it's just my idea.

I'm wrong.

The text says a loop, probably.

In this link, page 2, photo attached

This sling looks great. It has the same geographical origin : Tahiti.

The fingerloop has a ponpon. I don't know if ponpon is an english word. It's rather elegant. On a French study, I saw the ponpon made with a tuft of human hair.

"made from coconut fibre"
now the real question is, can it sling coconuts [smiley=huh.gif]

The discussion may not be about coconuts.  :D
But about fingerloop. By looking closely, the fingerloops don't look like the ones we do today.

The gip was probably "full hand" with a "fixing" loop for a finger. It's kind of my idea.
