What is that reading in
Is that a 3 digit number or is there a decimal point in there somewhere

So awesome you done it twice

Miles per hour.

And no, no decimal point.

Spoiler alert!
In all honestly, there is a little camera trickery going on.  Big surprise, huh?  I spent almost half an hour trying to get a reading on that thing from the ice.  I did it once in the past, but I just never have any luck with it.  I can't get it lined up correctly or something.  But from all the failure I recorded, I was able to cut together another fun little video.  So I got something from it.

So am I correct in assuming this is a false read?? Because otherwise I quit

I'm sorry joe, but now you simply must find a way to make that happen every time!
Perhaps if you filled the mould half-way, let them froze, and then filled up the rest of the mould, you could have ice-balls with each half only slightly fused to each other. (temperature of the top-up water would probably be important, as if it's too hot it could cause the ice to crack, too cold and there might not be enough fusion between the two halves.
An alternate way could be by placing a piece of card (triangular, square?) in each ball mould so that only the points of the shape are in contact with the mould. The idea being that it will be suspended halfway in the ice, encouraging it to split along that axis. So many variables to play with, so I'm sure a reliable method could be arrived at. ;)

Not a false reading.  The numbers you see aren't actually on the little Pocket Radar device.  Here's the breakdown:

1. In the video editing software I exported one frame from the recording.
2. I then cut out the lower right corner of the image with the Pocket Radar.
3. I went online and found a picture of a calculator, and took a screenshot of the '345' in its display.  I thought about '999', but I wanted the number to be crazy, but not too crazy, if that makes sense.
4. In the image software I used (just Preview on a Mac) I added the numbers from the calculator on top of the Pocket Radar display. I was surprised how good it looked.
5. And last, at the appropriate time in the video, I just fade in the updated image over top.  Industrial Light & Magic, here I come!

It only works because there's no movement in that lower right corner.  If I had walked over there, you would see where I would get cut off and the doctored image starts.  So ultimately the numbers you see are just a screenshot from a calculator.  :)

@AA - I could give the half freeze method a try.  I'm not sure if that will do it though.  I've had issue with my molds leaking if the seal isn't perfect.  When I see this (which is usually after any remaining water is frozen) I just fill up to the top.  The water making contact with the ice starts to melt it slightly where the two make contact, and then it all freezes together.  It seems to make a very strong bond.  But if I had water that was cold to the point of almost freezing, that might not happen.

Maybe it's time for an experiment.

Some more ice ball splitting craziness.  This one takes us on a little rabbit hunt.
