Hier ein paar Bilder von einem Schädeltreffer.

Dieser Schädel war außerhalb der Testreihe, deshalb darf ich ihn schon veröffentlichen.
Immer wieder erschreckend was eine Sling anrichten kann.
Der Helm ist eine einfache Replik. Das Original wurde in der Nähe von Augsburg gefunden. Einen solchen Treffer am Stirnbereich hätte der Träger wohl nicht überlebt.

So what study was this part off ?

Alex , ich arbeite gerade mit einigen Wissenschaftlern an einer Waffenstudie. Speziell der Römerzeit. Die Sling ist waffentechnisch noch nicht erfasst. Diese Studie wird sehr umfassend.  Es wird einige Zeit dauern bis zur Veröffentlichung. Ich darf über diese Versuche nichts erzählen. Der Schädel war außerhalb dieses Projektes. Der Stein durchschlug die Stirn und blieb im Schädel. Ein sehr übler Treffer.

This is fascinating and part of the reason I joined the forum, to increase my knowledge base, as it relates to the Roman legionary. As a Roman re-enactor, this gives me a greater appreciation for what  the damage a sling stone could do to a Roman galea and the human melon beneath it? As it is outside the scope of the main study, if possible, can you advise the distance the slinger was away from the galea / skull and the weight of the stone?

Dieser Versuch hier erfolgte auf eine Distanz von nur 15m
Meine Steine liegen alle zwischen 180 und 200g.
Größere Distanzen werden folgen.
