Title: Balearic Federation and International Association
Post by funditor on Nov 6th, 2021 at 5:54am
Seems Pep will not be the new President of the Balearic Federation.
Most of the clubs voted for someone lese, there is still time for adding other opinions.

Probably completely unrelated 😉 Pep announced there will be news yesterday about the foundation of an International Slinging Association in Spain. Association not Federation because of less legal requirements. So far I have not heard more...

In a correlating post members of the federation mentioned looking forward to a more participative and transparent leadership style

All clubs mentioned here voted for the same person. Club JASA Ibiza is not on this, where Pep is member.
Seems at least in the Balearic Federation some changes are upcoming.
We will see what happens in the international part.

Kachale told me India has a national Federation, if I got him right, so this would be the firat nation ever to do so.

Does anyone know if Guam has an offocial club or state federation or national federation

In Austria we have two local clubs, working on getting a national federarion. Some say we need a third club for sport subsidiaries, so we are working on this as well...

There is a video online, where Pep presents the future association.
Exclusively in Spanish 👍
Alex, this one is for you, as you for sure have missed these speeches desperately 😉

Heard through it, so far I could not gather any new informatiin.
It is stil open if it is an association or federation or club, and a voting modality has to be found for national federatios vs. State federations vs. Clubs vs. Individual persons....

Oh boy. I just hope we can all still meet up and sling once the dust has settled.

I imaging jaegoor is celebrating lol
he never approved of pep.

For my part pep pushed the international, I don't really care why, I just think it's a good thing for slinging.

beaurocracy - on the other hand, is never good for any organisation.

So i'm pretty sure pep will run an international next year - this year it was jasa and NOT balearic anyway.
So nothing changes there.

Christian - we need to have a chat :-)

It's about time we had a decent international in a different country.
Given, you have more clubs than anyone else, local support and enough land to hold a competition.
I vote for austria.

been a  couple of times in my youth. Once on a school sking trip and once for a huge international scouts meeting.

Definitely berchesgarten (?) for the scout meeting - I also thought that's where we were based for the skiing as well - but over 40 years later, that's just guessing.

Weirdly I also lived on the outskirts of celle (where jaegoor is based) as a kid. During the era when the baader-meinhof were active.
The local police carried sub-machine guns as standard.

Not sure I can see jaegoor running an international - but you never know - I suspect there would be a lot of rules ;-)
But he does have that fort, so that could be fun :-)
I'm pretty sure i'd get disqualified for something lol

But if you've got an airport near you and plenty cheap hotel/b&b accomodation in your area christian - can't see what's stopping us.

I've got everything in the uk, exept somewhere to hold the event and any kind of local support.
Which is kind of important lol

So anyway, that's my bright idea for today :-)
An international in Austria

An organised club in guam.

Hmm, don't think so.
But then you only really need something with organised bureacracy when you start taking money for club membership.

As far as I know, the regular wednesday night meetings are free.
The island government is involved in any really big events and Roman and Fokai clothing fund a lot of things.

So not sure they need a formal organisation.

And you get the impression that as soon as you formed one, somebody else would form another and so on.
On an island so small, all lots of clubs would do is dilute the energy and government support.

But I will find out :-)

Alex my usual training site would be great for hosting an international meeting with tennis balls

Actually its a sports hotel called Die Kantine
It has six indoor tennis places
Sanitary facilities including showers
A great restaurant
Thirty rooms, well equipped
5 mins walk from the train station
40min train ride from airport VIE, with many flights, only 1x change or 40E Taxi
Insurance is a topic, but for Tennis balls most liabilities are held by the tennis cour operator

One of my fields is nearby, with many stones

Was actually thinking of holding an European Championship for tennis balls on Dec 3rd
If not then next year

--> Who would be in???

Kick said his travel budget has been stretched alread, so not sure

Now the numbers going up, so not sure about Covid regulations

For stones the issue is insurance and safety precautions. Negotiations with insurance company ongoing.
Also this would be probably far out from civilisation, so loads of effort for transport, food dring and sanitary required, not sure how much this costs and how many people are willing to aid. Maybe a similar spors site would be required? Like hammer throwing, that can be easily adapted. Heve not found one yet.
Maybe a huge private school nearby might allow us on their outdoor facilities.
What do you think?

Yeah it will have to be next year for me. I'm supposed to be looking for a job as I write this in fact...

Oh next year, definitely.

Austria in December, I don't own skis :-)

I was thinking maybe around late may or early June for a long weekend. Preferably outside the tourist season for cheaper flights and hotel.
Say Friday to Monday with competitions on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday in the field for the slingers and Sunday in the hall for the locals and newspapers.

We can buy a couple bags of pebbles from a garden centre for ammo. Saw some recently, cheap and good sizes readily available.
It's a long way to the beach ;-)

If you can source a big enough BBQ, I'm happy to cook for a BBQ blowout on the Sunday night.
I have references, if required :-)
Generally travel with a good thermometer and suitable knife

Something half oil drum size would do,  if more than 30 people, then two :-)

Would just need a trip to a supermarket and somewhere to prep and get food into marinades on the Saturday.
A large cool box and some freezer blocks would do for a fridge.
Marinades tend to kill bugs anyway. One of the many reasons for using them.

It's a fair bit of logistics.
I'll help with anything I can.

Portaloos (event toilets) are fairly cheap and one unit will do for up to 80 people. I would think around 100 - 150 euros for the weekend.
They come with fully loaded hand washing sinks.
So that's not a problem.

I'm sure some people would be prepared to camp.
Not me :-)
But David probably would. Give him two trees and a hammock and he's happy as a dog with two tails :-)

We all pay for Mallorca and Ibiza, so I don't see money being the issue.

Plus if you've got a local decent sized hotel, then with enough people staying for the same period, you can negotiate a good price.
Likewise negotiate with a local taxi firm for transport.
Or get friends to do some ferrying about.
I think the people-in-one-car record for Mallorca was 8 or 9. I think Pete was fed in horizontally for one journey.

I volunteer uwe for official haggler/negotiator.

He's the only person I know who Always manages to haggle pep down.
He even gets his taxi fare from the airport refunded.

He's missed his role in life, should have been a UN negotiator. :-)

Jaegoor always complains about the cost, but uwe always manages to do something about it.

Give him the number of the best hotel and unleash the Hubert !

The hotel will probably end up paying us to stay :-)

Given modern communications, no reason we can't help with the details, money collection etc.

And if you can promise No lectures or cultural visits, you'd probably get a lot more attendees

Also look into sponsorship, your company might want some local publicity.
Get the local garden centre to sponsor stones.

All that kind of thing.

I'm sure some of the Amazon's probably have contacts.

The best thing you can do as event organiser, us to delegate ,:-)

what are you saying?  i'm complaining about money?  Time is more my problem than money.

Lol you're always complaining about how much money you think pep is making and how cheap the first international was before pep took over.
