My longest ever sling is 2m, made out of 1mm dyneema cords for slinging glandes extremely far(ranges exceeding 400m with lead and just barely 400m with clay).

Shortest sling is 10 inches(25cm), extremely short sling with max range of 70m(which is still not bad, I can throw with hand only about 40-50m may and it is quite useful in closed spaces just like a pistol!)

The longest sling I've made is about 52 inches (132 cm).  The shortest normal sling I've made is around 28 inches (71 cm) long.  But my shortest sling was part of a multi-pouched sling, and that was 24.5 inches.  I have slings that are shorter, but they were all made by others.

longest sling I'm comfortable using would be about 42 inches.
I can use longer, but there's very little point :-)

Around 16 inches is the shortest I've used.
used as my 'putter' when playing sling golf :-)

Everyday sling is around 30-32 inches.

When I first started slinging I made some ridiculously long slings... seven, eight, nine feet.  I was experimenting.  I've also made some very short slings just for fun.... maybe twelve or fourteen inches.  I know some of the guys here like short slings.  I don't have any use for a sling shorter than 24".  My ideal length is 38".

@Rat Man, your ideal length is close to mine which is 35”

@CA I’ve always wanted to try sling golf just never had the chance to yet

@blnkfrst
You measure slings from the centre of the pouch to the retention loop.

I think you've been watching the paracord chap.
He always measures wrong :-)

143.5cm/56.5 inches is my longest. Made from one piece of paracord and that long because that's how long the paracord was when I got it :D I use it for tennis ball throwing for dogs.

It's surprisingly comfortable and really fun.
I actually don't know about shortest.

Naw, I'm a little guy.  14 to 48.  I don't usually measure slings in terms of distance, but in fingers, spans, spreads, cubits and fathoms based on my body proportions.  It's easier to remember and faster to measure, because the kids are always running off with my tape measure.

not really fathoms, as that's exact... wingspans.

No its not the one in the video but yes that is how I measure them as well from the center of pouch to my finger (retention loop) I was not sure I had that name right thanks for confirming without me asking lol

I was about to try using Mason line for a braided probably be a simple braided split pouch tho I want one of those tight clean looking Egyptian styles but it looks kind of tough and for some reason I feel intimidated by it but I will try to do it eventually...
but what I was gonna ask before I distracted myself was how does the masonery line preform would u recommend it or got any notes I should keep in mind I am planning on using half masonry and half trout line cause they r both about the same thickness and similar if not the same but colors look nice and bright together...

Not quite sure what you mean by perform but the mason line works very well and it’s very strong so you don’t need a bunch of stands so it ends up being relatively light plus it’s waterproof  as for the Egyptian slings they aren’t super difficult they just take a while and tightening the warps can be a bit tedious but you should definitely try it

Yeah thats about what I meant by preform was does it work fairly easily I thought it might try to unravel since it is only twisted and not like a braided line or anything, but I definitely will try my hand at making one u know any good links with  tutorials on making Egyptian style
