Title: International Slinging Event Ibiza 2021
Post by Curious Aardvark on Mar 30th, 2021 at 7:20am
Poster attached.

Given that most of europe is heading back into lockdown for the summer and due to eu government incompetence, they did not order enough vaccines - there is no certainty that the international will happen.

If it does I'll do my best to make it this year.
I like ibiza :-)
We could actually go to the hippy night market (actual name) - that would be cool.

So all things being equal, we'll be optimistic - but it is what it is.

Not sure I'd be booking flights just yet.

And someone better tell pep he's spelt schleuder wrong :-)

I'd love to go someday! How did they choose which non-Iberian flags to place in the poster? Just random countries or do they have slinging populations?  :-?

Well... Pep is very enthusiastic about adding flags. I mean, I'm not even Finnish but he did imply that if I put myself down as Finnish then he could add the flag to the poster...  ;D

I will not be able to make it for those dates (assuming it happens, and I could make arrangements to go).  I already have a ticket for CigarFest on that weekend.  :(

If it does happen, I can't wait for the videos everyone posts!

So why don’t we just have an online International competition?  I just had a special tape measure made with markings 25% closer together. I would love to have an opportunity to actually use it.

The flags are actually not random :-)
They are all from regions/countries of past competitors.

And yes - apparently spain is comprised of  a lot of little 'country states'.
who knew :noidea:

I think in reality it's actually  split into catalonia and everybody else :-)

The first language on the balearic islands is catalan.
Which is like spanish, but different.
Christian could probably explain the differences- he's the best linguist I know.

I mainly asked because I saw Cuba on the list. Being Cuban myself, I've never encountered a Cuban slinger. However, most Cuban men I know used slingshots when they were kids which is hilarious considering the lack of rubber. Sometimes they searched through hospital dumpsters in search of rubber. If they knew to make slings, they'd probably have an easier time. Well, now that I mention it, I have encountered a Mexican who used to sling when he was a child. I think it was to herd some animal I don't remember.

then at some point we had a competitor who identified as cuban.
Or - knowing pep - maybe wore cuban heeled boots.

Or once ate a cuban sandwich (reuben ?).

I do remmeber the bolivians, but can't off hand recall anyone introduced as being cuban. So who knows :-)

I will bring czech flag and wear socks with sandals then. Also bring some czech beer and ramble all the time about foreign beer being not as good as ours to show I am true czech!

I would love to go to the competition (assuming they have one)  Perhaps in 2022 ?  In any case, can someone please send me a link to the "official" rules for target size, distances etc. please ?  I do not expect to win, but I would at least like to be good enough not to embarrass myself so I need to set up a standard target.  Also, I saw somewhere that they do not accept non-natural slings (aka Para chord).  Is this true ?  If so any recommendations on the best substitute.  I make my own and so am rather partial to them.

Thanks in advance.

You just need to go down two more threads Vance.  :)

Here's a link: https://slinging.org/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1429463497

This has the specs on target size and distance.

I haven't been to one so I don't know about the use of synthetic materials.  I'm sure one of the other guys will chime in.

Thank you.
Here is the info along with the web site regarding sling material.   I am surprised they care about what your sling is made of, but apparently they do:

6.- Slings

The slings can be made from pita fibre, straw, oakum, linen, cord, skin, hair, wool, etc or any other material of vegetal or animal origin. The use of slings made from materials of mineral, metal or any synthetic nature (plastic or derivatives) is considered to be against the rules.

No limit is set as to the shape or weight of the sling; it all depends on the Referee-judge to decide what can be classed as a sling.

Its maximum length (doubled in the middle) cannot be more than 1 m.

Well for the international competitors they don't have those restrictions. There is also no limits on slinging style.

Title: Re: International Slinging Event Ibiza 2021
Post by JudoP on May 28th, 2021 at 8:31am
It does seem pretty relaxed. I mean, Luis has polypropylene in the tassel of his slings so I guess that is technically against the rules- and he's an islander. Also, I'm sure a ton of balearic slings are using synthetic thread to bind the leather on (mine are).

A few of the internationals use non-standard slings and styles (our very own Curious Aardvark uses a paracord sling with figure 8 throwing style), though by and large people use natural slings and the balearic or underarm throwing style.

It would be good to see you there Vance, can't recommend the event enough.

Absolutely. Honestly one of the best experiences of my life. Just getting to meet other people that are into slinging was so awesome and you learn a LOT, more than can be learned through text or even video.

Title: Re: International Slinging Event Ibiza 2021

As far as the rules goes.
Everyone bends that.
these days louis pons livermore actually uses strips of plastic in the 'cracker' at the end of his slings.
Does that make the sling invalid ?
Dunno - but I wouldn't want to be the person to tell him so :-)

The thing about the rules and the international competitors is that THEY INVITED US.

Until the invitation arrived - 10 years ago ?  I had no idea the balearic islands even still did slinging, let alone still had it as an actual national sport.

We didn't all turn up one day and say: 'can we play with you?'
If that were the case then, fine - it would make sense to abide by their rules.

But as the international competitors were invited, and nobody mentioned any restrictions at the time.
It's entirely unrealistic to expect us to change sling style and slings to abide by rules nobody had mentioned in the invites.
After nearly 30 years of slinging, it's unrealistic to expect me to change style and sling - just to abide by some rules nobody mentioned till the competition started.

Year by year fewer people take up slinging in the balearic islands.
You can't help but feel that this kind of petty rule obsession is at least partly to blame.

Also the reluctance to do anything with slings but the traditional target slinging.
Or use anything but stones in all official competitions.

Unfortunately as an outsider, all you can do is try and point this out.
You can rarely make people understand why things need to change.

That aside - it's a great week/few days and thoroughly recommended.
The people involved are all fantastic, the hospitality is second to none.
And if you don't make lifelong friends on your first visit - you're doing something wrong :-)

so it looks like I'll be going this year.

But no flights on the 14th so it'll just be 15th-18th.

On the plus side. with pepe's end (65 euros a day for hotel, food, transport while in ibiza etc), flights, airport parking, luggage, covid insurance etc - it works out at just under £400.
Which I can afford :-)

Soooo, I need to get the target fixed (had to steal one of the supports to make a plumbing adaptor pipe for the kitchen this year).
Make a bunch of clay skull's and get some actual practice in !

So who's going this year ?
Anyone, no one.

Also be interesting to find out what's going on over there slinging politics wise.

I think peps setting up his own international federation.

Can't wait to see the folks again :-)

Currently going through the covid travel regulations.
No wonder the flights are so cheap, the bastards do not make it easy.

At the moment the trip hinges on whether we can get an approved covid test on the Saturday or Sunday.
If you don't have a negative test within 3 days of you return trip, you get fined £500.
Sod that.

On top of that, you need either a covid pass or recent negative test to leave the UK. I've got the pass, so that's okay.
As well as at least 2 forms to fill in both outbound and inbound.

This is for countries on the UK amber list.
Countries on the green list are a lot more straightforward.

So I'll hold off booking the flights for a few weeks and see if anything changes. Meanwhile asked pep, to check we can get the proper PCR tests in ibiza.

Title: Re: International Slinging Event Ibiza 2021
Post by Curious Aardvark on Aug 29th, 2021 at 11:43am
so after a bit of research:
Getting a pcr test (the much cheaper and much quicker antibody test is not accepted) is easy to do but it costs 100-120 euros.
And takes 24 hours to generate a result.
So we'd need to take the tests on saturday and then hope the results came back before monday morning.

Do I trust ibizans to work on a sunday ? yeah, not so much.
Given that you can't actually take the test on sunday - what's the odds the processing labs are working when the front end isn't ?

So at the moment I'm holding off booking the flights. I'll wait out september and see if anything's changed by october :-(

Hopefully ibiza will be added to the green list.

I can but hope.

One of the few benefits of being self employed is that I don't have to book holidays in advance.
The downside - no holiday pay, or sick pay, or regular pay lol

Thank you for the compliment Alex.

Actually it is not exactly Catalan, but similar
It s called Mallorquin and Ibizenco, respectively.

Catalan is spoken in Catalonia, basically the Province around Barcelona, and they call it a separate language. To my understanding it is very similar to Spanish, only a few letters per each word changed. For me it sounds like a mixture beween Spanish and French, pronounced sometimes in a Portuguese style.

The language became important there when the Catalonian Prince Jaume led the reconquista of previously Mauric Islands in the middle ages.

Well some news in the UK.
It looks like we no longer need a test to get back into the country.

Countries are now either lawful good or lawful evil.
No more neutrals.

Or red and green, no amber.

Not sure if we still need a negative test to get into Ibiza.

Next official review is 1st October.

good .luck mate :-)

Looks like it'll be a great event - t-shirts even !

Mind you it looks like pep's started without everyone anyway:

Quote:
Today, Monday, October 11, we have presented this International Shooting Meeting with Honda,
This is the "2nd Shooting World Cup with Honda Mateu Cañellas Roca".

The J.A.S.A. The organizer of this event wants to pay tribute to the former president
for 30 years of the Balearic Federation of Tir de Fona, mateu Cañellas Roca.

There will be several days of competition where between 150 and 200 slingers will participate, arriving
from various countries, Austria, Germany, Holland, England, Switzerland, USA, France, Tibet, Cuba etc.

Also from several autonomous communities; Andalusia, Murcia, Valencia, Catalonia, Madrid,
León, Navarra, Aragon, Cantabria, Castilla La Mancha etc.

The presentation ceremony was attended by a female team from Austria "Amazons Slingers", who
last year they were already in Mallorca

Also present was the sculptor artist Antoni Miquel Morro who is the creator of the figure.
that we will deliver to the World Cup Champions, it is a beautiful sculpture of
iron, is a woman waiting her turn to sling.

The runs are all this next weekend, although there are several other acts that will take place
carried out on the occasion of these recreational-sports-cultural-historical days.

The runs will take place in Sant Antoni, Santa Eulalia, Sant Carles, Sant Josep and Es Cubells.

Among other visits we will have an exhibition of ball pages by Sa Cola de Sa Bodega.

J.A.S.A ?
No clue what that stands for.

150 people - he's going to need 2 busses.
That would seem like a lot, be intertesting to see how many there actually are.

Not sure exactly :D Played some practice games of 5 rounds each and I didn't totally embarrass myself and even won a few rounds :D Already done better than last year. I should have learned from last year. I never have any time to post stuff up while the comp is happening. Anyway, I am now back in Finland, tired but oh so happy and some new leads to chase up for a possible Team Finland for 2022. Let's see how it goes but I'm more determined than ever to actually get off my arse and get people slinging together.

Anyway! Lot's of video to come soon including a short documentary film coming out next year (sometime around Spring) made by Andre and Chika from the UK. They came along not knowing anything about slinging and not realising quite how passionate and dedicated we are and we managed to get Chika (who is the presenter) to compete. He went from ZERO slinging experience to scoring I believe 2 hits on the board in the stone throwing and I believe similar for tennis balls. Note: We arrived somewhat late for the stone throwing so Chika had one practice throw (first time ever using stones) then went on to do his 2 rounds of 5 stones. And he hit the board. Incredibly impressive. Andre was busy filming but he did, on the last day try cracking a sling like a whip and got it! Both great guys and it really felt they understood us and were great to hang out with. They both left with slings and both saying they want to get some practice in and are coming next year!

Ok, onto scores. The actual numbers will come up soon I guess. It always takes a while, but I'll get them up here eventually. One thing that was a shame is that the last day was very rainy so we didn't get a second chance to use stones. Instead we did 4 rounds of tennis balls in an indoor hall. In some ways, this was good because we had more time to stay in one place and really hang out together.

Myself: I got some hits on the board and 1 or 2 dianas. I feel last year I did slightly better, but then I was using a sling from Channing and a sling from Uwe for the first time so I'm overall ok with how I did, particularly because I have done very little, if any real practice this year.

Christian (funditor) from Austria: He won I think third place in the Men's and just generally was absolutely on fire for a lot of the competition. You'll see in the videos, he was doing damn well this year.

Uwe (hubert): What can I say? Channing said it best when he dubbed him the Sling King. He won first place and, at least to me, was rarely missing the target at all. If it wasn't a diana, it was surely a hit on the board. Amazing to watch him sling and I got one of his amazing slings (lucky too because it was the last one he had to sell). Beautiful to use.

Channing (Practical Paracord): He took the Balearic slinging world by storm! He's sure to have lots of videos up soon and I have some great footage to come as well. He won 2 third places and a second for the overall Men's! He sold all the slings he brought with him and the whole competition was buzzing about the American with the paracord slings. Getting to meet him in person was fantastic and to see him so buzzed was infectious. Louisiana... I might have to save up but I definitely need to get over there.

The Austrian women's team once again stormed the competition and Myriam particularly did well. You'll see when the numbers come out :D

I could keep going as there are so many fantastic slingers out there and all over, but I'll let the numbers do the talking later.

For only a few days that seemed to pass so quickly, it was packed full of great memories and experiences and has reignited the love of slinging for me. I have made excuses and put things off, but now I'm super charged to really get slinging out there especially in my own backyard as they say. Here's to next year!

Just got the message (because there was a bit of delay in getting the results together) Team Austria won Gold for the Team competition!

Christian, Gerhard, Uwe, Channing and myself. Yes, that's right, I once again attached myself to the team with all the best slingers :D I contributed a few points but these guys were all so great, I could have been throwing backwards and Team Austria would have won I'm sure. Even if we had all choked and done terribly, I wouldn't have regretted getting to hang out with these guys. Cannot wait for next year and I might need to make a trip to at least Austria sometime soon...

That is one helluva trophy haul !
Good job you sold the slings and used the ammo - to give some room in your luggage !

Any idea where the competiton results are going to be posted ?

Obviously not the balearic federation site.
Or is it ?
Who knows, kind of my point, no idea if they are still affiliated with the international or not ?

But would be good to see the full results.

Anyone know what distance you were slinging the tennis balls at ?
It's usually somewhere between 10-15 metres.

Hopefully next year we can have a team england :-)
If we all turn up and kick joins we'd have enough - just saying :-)

Last year Pep put them on Facebook so I assume he'll do that again.

Anyone know what distance you were slinging the tennis balls at ?

13 metres I believe. We were talking about it and that's pretty much the perfect distance for tennis balls to be challenging but also possible to use. I guess it could be pushed back to 15 but 13 felt comfortable.

I suppose if enough odds and sods turn up - team slinging.org will finally have to rear it's ugly head :-)

I might even get t-shirts made.

I say 'made' a laser cut template and some cheap paint might be the order of the day lol

Do not wash

Can you get spray on fabric paint ?

well yes you can !
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Flexible-Fabric-Leather-Textile-Clothes/dp/B08PL2VSWG/ref=sr_1_11?dchild=1&keywords=spray+on+fabric+paint&qid=1634668543&sr=8-11

Okay silver paint - now just need some cheap plain black xxl t-shirts.
The ones that wash down to an xl on a cool wash !
Shrink-to-fit basically :-)

Damn - these things are cheap !

These are the same ones I get from vistaprint.
So definitely shrink to fit.

I'm thinking of making "Just the hits" because otherwise it will be a long video :D I didn't get as much video as I could have because we had the camera guy there and lots of other people were filming. I also wanted to spend time just slinging without worrying about the camera :D

Before we started the competition proper (competitors on the other islands had to come later) we did some tennis ball slinging at a botanical garden; 2 rounds of 5 balls each. These scores weren't counted into the overall scores.

From Pep:
"PREVIEW TO THE WORLD CUP
RAFEL LOPEZ (LORCA) AND ANTONIA REYNES (SA POPULA)
WIN IN BIOTANIC IBIZA BIOTECHNOLOGICAL
BASSETTLE SHOOT - FONA - TIRO CON HONDA - SLINGING -
To warm up engines and before the World Cup shooting dispute with Honda, it took place at the Botanical Botanical Ibiza, a ball-mode thrown.
The results that occurred were as follows:
MEN:
1th) With 10 + 3 points Rafel Lopez
2th) With 10 + 2 points Diego Camuñas
3th) With 7 + 2 points Francesc Ribas
WOMEN:
1 a) With 7 + 1 points Antonia Reynes de Sa Pobla
2 a) With 6 + 1 Points Maria de Malaga
3 (a) With 5 + 1 Myriam points from Austria
Laia Prats with 2 points was the winner of the juvenile test.
Two groups of guided tours to the Botanico were held during the competition.
In the photo we see Antonia Reynes 1st ranked in women and Diego Camuñas (Sa Pobla) 2th ranked in men."

Automatic translation on Facebook needs some work but I think you can work it out. As you can see, Myriam was already doing well.

First (and because of rain only) time slinging rocks. The international group arrived late thanks to a trip to a museum and getting slightly lost so when we arrived we each had 1 (!!!) practice throw then it was straight into throwing rocks. Very difficult and none of use really got a chance to do our best. Nevertheless, it was still fun. Here are the results from Pep:

′′ WORLD CUP SHOOT WITH HONDA ′′ MATEU ROCK CAMES ′′
1 a) CHAMPIONSHIP JOURNADA IN THE MODALITY STONE AROUND IN HOLY EULALIA DEL RIO (IBIZA)
THE JASA IBIZA IN WOMEN CUP THE 3 PODIUMS
Good weather and lots of heat during this kick-off of the championship that was held behind the Santa Eulalia Football Camp and that the podiums were fairly shared, except in the women's category JASA Ibiza flake the top three places.
Men were released at 20 meters and 10 meters children and women, carrying out 2 rounds of 5 stones each,
I mean a total of 10 pitches.
These were the final results:
MEN:
1th) With 9 + 0 points Abel Alvarez (JASA Ibiza)
2th) With 8 + 1 Points Tomas Perez (Ciutat)
3th) With 7 + 1 Points Lluis Pons (Menorca)
WOMEN:
1 a) With 8 + 2 Thais Alvarez Points (JASA Ibiza)
2 a) With 6 + 2 Lali Mari Points (JASA Ibiza)
3 a) With 4 + 1 Points Maria Tur (JASA Ibiza)
CHILD:
1th) With 8 + 1 Points Biel Gomila (Sa Pobla)
2th) With 3 + 1 points Josep Gari (Llucmajor)
3th) With 2 + 0 points Alejandro Luque (Son Servera)
GIRLS:
1 a) With 6 + 1 Points Laia Prats (JASA Ibiza)
2 a) With 3 + 1 Mar Tomas Points (Llucmajor)
3 a) With 2 + 1 points Claudia Vargas (JASA Ibiza)"

More scores from Pep. First time with tennis balls actually counting to the overall championship scores. Uwe and Channing did fantastic with Uwe only just being beaten by Diego by one diana. Myriam did great as well, taking second place in the Women's:

SHOT WORLD CUP WITH HONDA
′′ MATEU C CAELLAS ROCK ′′ 2021
2 a) MODALITY CHAMPIONSHIP JOURNADE (HAIR)
TOGETHER THE HOLY CARLES CHURCH (HOLY EULALIA) IBIZA
On a beautiful plot with grass, next to the old church of Sant Carles in the municipality of Santa Eulalia, the second of the World Cup took place, this time it was competed in the Tennis Ball mode.
A lot of participation, which leads to that when it's finished out of the night. During the competition we have the presence of the Conseller d 'Esports d' Eivissa Sr. Salvador Losa and also in the award of prizes, the councilor of Sant Carles Sr. Juan Carlos Rosello.
The ball was thrown at 13 meters men and 10 meters children and women, carrying out 2 rounds of 5 balls each, like always a total of 10 pitches.
MEN:
1th) With 13 + 4 points Diego Camuñas (Sa Pobla)
2th) With 13 + 3 Uwe Pelzer Points (Germany)
3th) With 9 + 3 Channing Charpentier Points (USA)
WOMEN:
1 a) With 10 + 3 points Christina Ribas (JASA Ibiza)
2 a) With 8 + 2 Points Myriam Gertrude (Austria)
3 a) With 7 + 1 Points Maria Tur (JASA Ibiza)
CHILDREN:
1th) With 6 + 2 Tomeu Cuts Points (Llucmajor)
2th) With 3 + 1 Points Biel Gomila (Sa Pobla)
3th) With 3 + 1 points Iker Salcedo (Son Servera)
GIRLS:
1 a) With 8 + 2 Points Laia Prats (JASA Ibiza)
2 a) With 2 + 0 Mar Tomas Points (Llucmajor)
3 a) With 1 + 0 points Claudia Abeledo (Llucmajor)

By the way awesome videos!

Title: Re: International Slinging Event Ibiza 2021
Post by Curious Aardvark on Oct 26th, 2021 at 8:49am
yeah, it is a very confusing way of writing it.

But if two slingers have equal points, the winner is decided by the one who has the most dianas.
So in that regard, it makes it easy to see who wins.
But it could definitely be written better.

Title: Re: International Slinging Event Ibiza 2021
Post by funditor on Oct 27th, 2021 at 10:53am
The writing means 13 points, and of those overall hits were 4 Dianas center zone hits
In case of equal overall points e.g. 13, the slinger with the higher amount of Dianas wins.

Title: Re: International Slinging Event Ibiza 2021
Post by Sarosh on Oct 27th, 2021 at 1:18pm
thanks for the answers
13+4 might be faster to write clearly than 13(4)
it could even be written 134 but that would be even more confusing  :P

More scores for the last day. We were going to do rocks then tennis balls but the rain forced us to do two rounds of tennis balls instead.

WORLD CUP SHOOT WITH HONDA "MATEU CANELLAS ROCA"
3rd) JORNADA CHAMPIONSHIP MODALITY (PELOTA) IS CUBELLS
In Girls el LLucmajor (Mallorca) cup the whole Podium!!
The rest of the podiums very distributed; USA, Germany, Catalonia, Sa Pobla (Mallorca), JASA (Ibiza), and Son Servera (Mallorca) !!
The 3rd Day of this World Cup was planned to be in the form of stone in our outdoor field in the town of Sant Josep, but there were bad weather forecasts that it would be raining all day, so I opted (consenscientious) with the delegates) that The throwing was performed in the form of a tennis ball inside the covered polysportport and so the non-affected climate, in Es Cubells (also in the municipality of Sant Josep).
There was also a lot of participation here having to place 4 diamonds. Remember that in the ball the men threw 13 meters and 10 meters the children and women, taking 2 rounds of 5 balls each, as always a total of 10 throws.
RESULTS:
MEN:
1st) With 11+3 Points Channing Charpentier (USA)
2nd) With 10+3 Points Uwe Pelzer (Germany)
3rd) With 10 + 2 Points Hector Hidalgo (Cataluna)
WOMEN:
1a) With 8 + 2 Points Antonia Reynes (Sa Pobla)
2a) With 7 + 2 Points Thais Alvarez (JASA Ibiza)
3a) With 6 + 1 Points Maria Tur (JASA Ibiza)
CHILDREN:
1st) With 10 + 3 Points Biel Gomila (Sa Pobla)
2nd) With 6 + 0 Points Alejandro Luque (Son Servera)
3rd) With 4 + 0 Points Take Cuts (Lucmajor)
GIRLS:
1a) With 3 + 0 Points Mar Tomas (Llucmajor)
2a) With 1 + 0 Points Julia Abeledo (Llucmajor)
3a) With 1 + 0 Points Claudia Abeledo (Llucmajor)

And the second round:

WORLD CUP SHOOT WITH HONDA "MATEU CANELLAS ROCA"
4th) AND LAST JOURNEY CHAMPIONSHIP MODALITY PELOTA
In this 4th and last day of this World Cup, identical to the previous one, so it was with ball and in the same place as the previous one of Es Cubells, due to the forced change made.
Almost no difference is appreciated from the 3rd to the 4th match since for issues discussed, both throws were performed consecutively, since the colleagues from Mallorca were supposed to travel and we had to finish as soon as possible, besides we still had to eat r and give the prizes.
There was the same participation as the previous one and it continues to be used 4 days. The previous occasions we remembered the distance to which we threw in this ball mode, today we will also remember that the wooden pad we threw measures 1 meter and 20 centimeters, both high and wide and inside it has a circus head of 50 centimeter diameter, if it is given to the board it is a point, while if you get the medal it is 2 points, in the end if there are draws wins whoever would have gotten + dianas if it persists it continues.
RESULTS:
MEN:
1st) With 12+3 Points Uwe Pelzer (Germany)
2nd) With 11 + 3 Modesto Mañas (Son Servera)
3rd) With 11+3 points Christian Sam (Austria)
WOMEN:
1a) With 12 + 5 Points Katrin Dyballa (Austria)
2a) With 8 + 2 Puchi Rial (Tibet) Points
3a) With 8 + 1 Points Cristina Ribas (JASA Ibiza)
BOYS:
1st) With 10 + 3 Points Biel Gomila (Sa Pobla)
2nd) With 5+1 Points Takeu Cuts (Llucmajor)
3rd) With 3 + 0 Points Alejandro Luque (Son Servera)
GIRLS:
1a) With 2 + 1 Points Julia Abeledo (Llucmajor)
2a) With 2 + 1 Points Claudia Abeledo (Llucmajor)
3a) With 1 + 0 Points Mar Tomas (Lucmajor)
After eating, right there was proceeding to the delivery of the prizes of the 3rd and 4th match, in addition to those of the World Cup in the categories; Men, Women, Boys and Girls. Sponsored by; Council of Ibiza, Council of Santa Eularia, Sant Antoni and Sant Josep.

Alex you are right there are some at my home 😉 In total I got ten podium cups from Internationals sling meetings, I keep them in my living room, in daily sight, enjoying them every day 😊
maybe Uwe or Silvio might have a higher count, still I love every single one of mine 😉
It is always a delicate situation at a tournament, one trains hard for months, and then only a few shots count...
As I said to the press this week, I have seen many a splendid throwers have bad rounds, bit never an untrained newbie get a good score.
Talking to Modesto there this year, the one in  Davids million video, He told me his record is 17 dianas en bloc in training, but then I saw him miss three shots in a row in tournament...

WEll I've got 2.
One is genuinely just for turning up lol.

That was in ibiza in 2019. As there were just three internationals: me, guelu and roman - I got a cup be defauklt.
I could not have hit the  inside of a barn if I;d been inside it that day.
Pep made me stand there for about 10 minutes until I actually hit nthe bloody thing.
It was a diana - but damn it took a lot of shots :-)

The other cup I'm proud of.
it's a thrid place but given that luis, jaegoor etc were in the comp and i had to win a shoot off as well - I figure i earned that one :-)

I have never turned uo to an internatuional with any training at all under my belt.
Basically I tedn to go from one international to the next with zero target slinging.
Tell a lie, one year david and I had a couple days with tennis balls.
But that's it.

One of these days, I'll actually get round to training and beat every klast one of you !
one of these days ... lol

Random slinging of things, fairly regular, tennis balls for dogs, fairly regular.
But specirfic balearic target slinging - so far just in the balearic islands.
And that with the thrid class crappy stones they give the visitors.

Oh and I do have a team meda for first place - where my score did not actually count lol
That was also 2019 - I was just buggering around with different slings and styles and just did not hit a damn thing till the last comp, and was just 3 points short of a trophy in that one.

But the ibiza cup was just plain embarassing :-)

Still they are the only slinging trophies in the british isles.
Pete's got a genuine first place team medal as his score did count towards the result.

But those are it.

3rd world slinging meet: 13-16 october 2022.

This is under the auspices of peps - 'world slinging federation' and nothing whatsoever to do with the Balearic slinging federation, who seem to have eschewed all international connections in recent years :-(

I'll try my best to get there,
But money is currently seriously in short supply :-(

Gonna be a stretch for me too.

Had my annual chat with my accountant yesterday, looks like I'm about to start a brand new business, so holiday money - not so much.

I suggested I sold one thing and she suggested something completely different, which - if it takes off will make actual useful amounts of money and be a helluva lot more fun, than what I'm doing now :-)

So we'll have to see.
Did ask pep to move the actual competition start to the Friday.
So we'll have to see what occurs, 'twixt now and then.

If I can get the business premises  I'm going for, odds are I'll  also be able to setup an indoor range.

I figure I'm due some good fortune.
