Title: New camera test video Post by David Morningstar on Feb 17th, 2021 at 9:59am I have a new toy... this the first time using it. This is its slowest slo-mo. 1000 frames/sec played back at 25 frames/sec for 40x slowdown. The resolution is rather low, I will look to use higher res at lower framerates to get a clearer picture. This shows several things. Firstly, I'm fat. Secondly, I cant sling for toffee. Thirdly, slings look cool in slo-mo. This is an unlisted link just for slinging.org so dont go spamming it around everywhere. https://youtu.be/Wz5Uc9XlkWA |

@David LOLOL.
Not even but anyways that is amazing. You can see the spin and wobble coming off the stone so clearly. Theres a lot that could be learned from this. What camera is it? |

This shows exactly why I stopped using multi rotational sling styles with thin slings like you used in that video, pouch orientation control impossible !

Dang son! That's awesome! Is that your fancy new woven sling in the video?
You get ~30 frames during the release of the sling. at 240fps, I only get 3-6 depending on how hard I'm throwing. Much could be learned. |

The stones are coming out of the first Egyptian I made on the loom. The tennis balls are engulfed in the huge pouch I made for the staff sling.

Shotcut did a pretty good job on slo-mo-ifying the footage I took a little while back so I'll be doing a lot more of that in the future. Slo-mo is just so cool.

Very nice DM! That Sony resolution is waaaaaaay better than the cheap Casio camera I’ve been using at 1000fps

Samsung Galaxy S20. It does slo mo as well but I've found it useful to just film and then slow down what I want to slow down later and I do basically all my filming with a camera (I don't remember what it is, it's my wife's really). |

Nice !
I always like sony compact cameras. Got about 4 old ones still around. So it cost about the same as the new samsung s21 pro (£200 in it) Which is just a very expensive camera tagged onto a £200 phone, that retails for £1300. Mind you there are different versions of the Sony RX100 M7. Which version do you have ? Be interesting to see a comparison. The samsung has a lot more pixels - but the sony has a massive (relatively speaking) ccd, so each pixel should be laser sharp. Whereas the pixels from phone cameras tend to be individually quite fuzzy. 25fps playback on 1000fps is NOT 40% slowdown. it's 40X slowdown - 4000% And actually you're looking pretty good. Thinner than when I last saw you (which is something I'm definitely not). It's all that cycling and lack of eating out I reckon :-) |

Awesome! That's super clear. Doesn't look like the multiple rotations here affect too much the pouch orientation but it would be interesting to see with longer and shorter slings. Longer slings might well twist more.

Great quality! There's something strangely peaceful about watching slinging in slow motion. Love the dart throw at the end. :thumb:
