Title: Kids are the future of slinging.
Post by SerKraus on Jan 27th, 2021 at 9:15pm
I just finished braiding a sling for a little boy that wanted one. I felt the need to remind everyone that children are the future of slinging. Maybe if we make an effort to teach kids how to sling, and they do the same, slings will be less niche. Maybe slings can get the representation they deserve in movies and video games. If you're slinging balls at the park, keep a spare handy just in case someone is curious and wants to learn. If I have children one day, I will definitely teach them how to sling and they will be better than I ever was. Just a thought.

Probably half the people I've given slings to were minors. They seem to love it. Get them into these traditional skills early on and it could stick with them the rest of their lives.

I wish I had been given a sling or discovered slinging earlier. I don't know many children currently but I have three sisters and at least two want kids. I'm going to be the fun uncle that gives them dangerous weapons of war for their 4th birthdays :D

To be fair, children are also the past. A good number of slingers were introduced to slinging in Sunday School Bible stories at church.

I was first exposed to slinging through the story of David and Goliath when I was very small so I can definitely relate. I acquired a sling but nobody taught me how to use it so I gave up rather quickly. One time I asked my mom for a sling and she just gave me a sock ball and an old rag.  ;D

If and when my sister has children, I'll make sure those buggers grow up to be master slingers.

A while back I had an army of neighborhood kids as slinging disciples. Now they're all grown.  Hopefully they'll all pay it forward.

You may very well have created an entire army of slingers if they each teach several people. What is the R naught of Slinging I wonder...

I would like the child to learn this from childhood and by his youth was already a professional in throwing sling stones
