these are 2 options for bowstring that the loop has the same thickness as the middle. But I dont speak German...
does he mention:
1) if the knot weakens the bowstring?
2) how to get the correct length of bowstring?

I’m very surprised they tie a knot instead of twisting a loop into it but I’m sure there is a reason for it.

it could be that these knots have smoother curves on the transition rather than a loop

I noticed the angle the string makes is lower than a lot of knots so it's certainly possible it doesn't hurt the strength as much.

By the way, such a light sub 200 lb crossbow is fantastic actually...I can totally see why the medieval rulers disliked them because they made 'poaching' so much easier.

I'll probably make this first to find the correct length and then try the other.
