I like the idea of a tattoo, but hipsters have started to take over the culture around here. Maybe I will some day when tattoos are uncool and rebellious again.

I got all three of my tattoos last year. First I got a sprig of lavender on my left leg which is the "family tattoo" and was designed by my sister. Both my parents, all three of my sisters and my wife have it as well because my parents house has lavender growing outside and at one point all of us were living there for a year. Fond memories of those times. Then I got the Rod of Asclepius on my right arm after I graduated as a nurse. During the same session I got a crown on my right leg from the comic series Hellboy which is one of my favourite works of fiction. Not quite as "meaningful" as the other ones but I like it a lot.

I have a few ideas for more but corona has forced me to wait. Really can't wait to get more :D I had heard that it can be kind of addicting getting tattoos and now I really get it.

Also all of these photos were literally right after they were finished which is why they look a bit red. All healed perfectly.

Tattoos seem to be pretty acceptable these days.
When I was younger it seemed that only ďbadĒ guys got tattoos. Iíve always been exposed to it and was the first of my friends to get a tattoo. That was about 15 years ago. Now days only a few of my friends are clean skinned. Several of my friends are tattoo artist and some of them are recognised in the industry as being quite top tier. This is good for me because I rarely get ďbad tattoos and also get most of them for free or good will. I have a total of 11 tattoos and have only paid for 4 of them. 2 were the first 2 and the other 2 were from artists while traveling.

I find it interesting what different people get. Some people get tattoos with meaning, some just like the look, some people just want to show them off others want them concealed.

I donít look tattooed. If Iím wearing pants and no shirt you can maybe see one of my tattoos. If im in shorts maybe 5 and if Iím in underwear maybe 9 . Iím one who only got the tattoos for myself, I love them all except 1 I got very early on . It was my second tattoo before I realised that the artist is who makes a good tattoo not my idea.

I really hate and fear needles.  I could never get drunk enough to actually get a tat.

Then I quit drinking, so, no tat.

They really donít hurt all that much , I find it almost therapeutic.

I don't have any.† Thought about it many times, just never got around to getting one done.

Question for everyone.† If you decided to get a sling related tattoo, what would you want to get?

Iíve already thought of it but unfortunately I donít want to get any more tattoos above my waste. Was very close to getting a loaded sling on my ribs . Maybe Iíll get a tribute one day . A simple glande As a gap filler.

I'm thinking of getting a sling on my arm. The problem is choosing the sling design (though will probably be going for Balearic split pouch) and then how it will sit on my arm.

Wrap a herringbone pattern around your bicep like a tribal tattoo and have it split into two then come back together.

That's kind of what I'm thinking but coming down the length of my arm. I already have the Asclepius tattoo on my other forearm so might as well use the space on the other. :D

Iíve been drawing since I was a kid. Iíve yet to draw myself or see anyone elseís drawing that I would not get bored of seeing every day. Then thereís that weird feeling of having something on me all the time and if I ever decided I was sick of it you canít get it off without a procedure. That would bug the hell out of me lol.

But weirdly I love seeing others tattoos and often ask to take pictures of them for my collection. I guess itís easier for me to appreciate them on someone else than on myself.

If I ever did get one it would have to be something really personal and special.

I think it can come down to perspective as well. Even if I don't "like" my tattoos at some point, they're part of me and reflect me at this moment in my life. It's come up before, but I'm not one for regrets. Regretting things happening is just trying to live in the past.

It's not the pain, I was given literally thousands of shots while in the military.  I can relax my arm muscles so the shot doesn't particularly hurt.

It's mental.

I just don't like the idea of someone sticking stuff in me.

I'm like Morphy, I can admire a really good tat, I just don't particularly want one on my body.

And apparently, the main reason I wanted to get one was because everybody else had one or a dozen. ;D

I donít think I would regret it as much as be annoyed by it lol. I have to admit though a sling tattoo is one of the very few I would consider getting. If you do get one I would love to see it. THAT would be something worth memorializing in ink.

† †This is my only tat.† My mother requested the simplest (cheapest) funeral.† My sibs and I disagreed but there was no arguing with Mom.† When she passed and had her cheap funeral we immediately regretted honoring her request.† Anyway, after the funeral daughter Kate said, "That was very unfulfilling."† So her and I went and got tattoos to honor Mom.†Mom had been a navy wife.  Dad served eight years in the navy that included WWII so we went with the naval theme.† That's my right forearm if you can't tell.†
† † There was another time when I was very close to getting a tattoo.† When I was an MP in Korea a group of friends and I were going to get the MP logo tattooed on our upper arms.† It's a set of crossed pistols and Death Before Dishonor written underneath.† I don't recall why but we never got around to doing it.† In a way I'm glad.†
† † When I was a kid tats were a very masculine thing.† A† woman with a tattoo would be the same as a woman being big and hairy with man muscles.† It just wasn't done.† For a long time I thought that women who got heavily tatted ruined their looks.† Eventually I got used to it.† Chrissie has about nine tats.† These days I like it.†
† †I like things symmetrical so I'll probably end up getting a tattoo on my left arm to just to balance things out.† I'm not sure what it will be.†

Up to date, I have not seen that many tattoos which I liked.

I have shortly pondered to get a braiding related tattoo, along the lines of a complicated weave. However, in the end I decided to keep my skin ink free, as I appreciate japanese onsen more than personal self expression :D.

I don't like tattoos personally, because they remind me of paganism, and I don't like anything to do with paganism. Although that is subject for another topic.

Not that I have anything against people with tattoos, to others they might may mean or resemble something completely different. I just would never want one myself.

Nice :D I honestly wouldn't mind getting a neck/face tattoo but I work in the medical field specifically with old people. Wouldn't go down too well I think...

The only tattoo I've ever considered getting would be a black circle around my left ankle. Inspired by ÷tzi, the iceman, who had tattoos of stripes and crosses on the part of his body where he suffered from pains. My left leg is shorter than my right so I hope the magic will be able to ward any evils off.

Nice. Good taste in comics.

@ Rat Man
That is really awesome. Well crafted with a meaningful, personal backstory. Also it looks like what you see on cartoons where big burly sailors has "MOM" + heart tattooed on their biceps.† :D
I've got a friend whose little brother suffers from a genetic disease that will eventually shut down his nervous system (he is already now struggling to speak) so he has one of his little bros drawings + "brotherhood" written in runes on his chest.† :'(

@ Kilisi
Is that a local tradition? Looks hardcore. 8-)
