Title: Slinging Specific Exercises
Post by Blue Raja on Mar 17th, 2020 at 12:05am
Greetings All -

After several years of Pilates classes, I noticed that my form improved. Here I am slinging tennis balls at a local park.  I showed this to my Pilates instructor, who promised more work on engaging the core and twisting the hips.

Comments, critiques, suggestion are encouraged.

Also interested in hearing about your experience with exercises to improve slinging, i.e. yoga, stretches, weight training, daily sling practice.

I remember stretching came up as a topic and baseball pitcher stretching was suggested. It makes a lot of sense to me and I've used a few after training. I really should do a better job of warming up. I usually just jump straight in and then regret it the next day.

Rotator cuff excercises!
Also, my new focus on slinging this year is to focus on my footwork.
Cheers

Biomechanicly I think that shoulder and hip workouts will be beneficial.
Mental exercise is target focus and being “clear headed”
Technique is reputation and when possible under supervision from a senior slinger
