Title: A quick question about Balearic Slings
Post by Lithera on Jan 14th, 2020 at 8:04pm
It's a bit of a stupid question, but which way up is a Traditional Balearic sling used? With the 'knee' facing up, or the 'knee' facing to the ground?
Also, is this consistent between the ones with leather sewn on, and the ones without?

Sorry, I'm rather new to Balearic slings...

What do you mean by knee? I'm unfamiliar with knee being a part of a sling :D

The knee is on the opposite to the ammo holding side, it should act as a hinge.

@Kick, the knee is the way the retention cord is split into the pouch. It's a fancy way of splitting so the two splits stay level with each other and can hinge a bit easier.

I'm not an 'official' Balearic sling maker but that's what I've found.

Also this might be better moved to general discussion?

Thank you. Thinking about it now, I discovered while experimenting that the opposite side is also more resistant to abrasion, as the fibers are more vertically aligned.
You are right that this should be moved to general discussion. How do I do that? or does it have to be done by a moderator?
I'm still finding my way around the forum...

Ah ok I thought that was what it was but hadn't heard it called that :D Yeah I agree opposite side to ammo.

This Topic was moved here from Other Topics by Curious Aardvark.

Your wish is my command (in certain specific and ill defined circumstances  )

Also Pete is being kinda modest - most of the slingers who saw his balearic slings in mallorca last year - wanted to buy one :-)
In fact I'm not sure he actually took one back home with him. I know they were fighting over who was going to get the one he was using in competition :-)

I'm assuming this year 90% of his baggage allowance will be slings

I have one JudoP sling and now another on the way :D I'm hoping it arrives before the international so I can put the new one to good use.
