Hi everyone, the cornerstone dates for next year's slinging tournament have been communicated by the president of the federation Pep Ribas Ribas:
February 27 to March 2nd
The tournament dates and locations have not been fixed yet.
My estimation is that three tournments will take place on Friday Saturday and Sunday.

There will be a programme organized upfront again

I will keep you updated as I get news. So everyone who wants to come can already book the flights as long as they are still cheap ;)

I hope to see many of your faces again next year.

Team Austria will probably come with 8 !! members, four of them women. I am glad the enthusiasm has spread in Austria along my acquaintances. Hope the same happens in other countries also. By now we have also a formal slinging club also.

I might actually be able to come! Maybe! Damn I hope I can!

Always a good idea to get there the day before the first competition as things always start first thing in the morning.

That's so awesome you're going Kick!  Like CA, my finances just don't align with an oversea trip this year.  I've already got a tentative plan for next year, to get through the holiday season with less money spent.  If I can manage that, the trip could possibly happen.

don't forget that next year is the big sling event in guam - so I'm aiming for that next year, not mallorca :-)

Well I now have my flights so I'm definitely going and my dad will also be there. He's coming over from England to cheer me on and do some cycling :D

Unfortunately I'm going to miss Mallorca this year but I'm going to try my best to get to Guam or Mallorca next year , perhaps I can look into some sponsorship or establishing an Australian team, I know there's 3 west Aussie slingers and one in Tasmania , maybe I'll make a post and see what I can gather up.

I got some more practice in this time with stones. I honestly didn't do too well but I did land this shot which I'm very happy with :D

whatever that is, put it on a pole. You need to throw at a target nearer head height :-)

It's a bloody big metal pan. Believe me, if I could I would. It was a battle to get it just to stand up :D All I had was a really rubbish stick. There's a big heavy log that has a branch that's pointing straight up near-by. I might have a go at dragging it over a bit and see if that works better. My one wish is a big garden I could set up a proper target range. Luckily, most of my shots have been going too high so I should be fine for the competition :D

so upset im going to miss it this year it was a big goal of mine but a few things have happened and now its basicaly out of the question. and i had the money to go, Dammmmm

well guam's probably nearer you than mallorca anyway :-)

Well I dragged that big log out and it looks like I need some rope to hang the pan. I won't be able to get it much higher anyway so I might not bother. It works better than a stick anyway as the pan doesn't fall over as much when I hit it. Speaking of which, I was much better today. I landed quite a few hits especially with Fig 8. 'm still terrible at Balearic. It just will not stop going real wide right or, if I try to correct, real wide left. At least I know I can score at least 1 point at 20m and maybe a bit more than that at 10m. 30m... Let's see. I'll be taking a camera and trying to get some of my own footage so let's see how that goes.

I hit the board! Not counted into the championship but this first day we did two rounds of 5 stones each. I only got the one but I'm happy with that. It's been great meeting up with so many people I've heard about, talked to and/or exchanged slings with. Being around other slingers! I love it.

It was so great, especially because I got to meet so many people from the forum that I've been talking to for so long. Being around other slingers for the first time was amazing as well. I suggest everyone go next year (Team Australia...?) and there's a standing invitation to anyone on the forum to come over to Finland. I know some darn good restaurants and all the best slinging spots :D

On the photo, there are two women. Are there many women for the tournament ?

The competition is split into men's and women's individual competition and then men's and women's team competition and there is the same for kids (male and female) but only individuals (At least that's what I understood. I don't think there is kid's teams as we had a kid on our team :D).

Austria brought a full 5 person female team (who did incredibly well) and there were a lot of women from the Balearics competing. There was a wide range of ages too. I was surprised to see so many young people that were obviously taking it seriously but also very much enjoying themselves. I half expected bored teenagers being dragged along because it was important for their grandparents, but no they were really involved and loving it. It was great to see. Also a lot of them were incredibly talented.

I've finished up a video collecting together all the videos myself and my dad got and some photos as well. Unfortunately it's only phone camera footage. It would have been a nightmare getting the camera around so I'm glad I didn't bring it but there is a trade-off. Next year I'll film more and try to find a way to bring a camera.

Hopefully I'll get it uploaded tomorrow if YouTube behaves and stops getting stuck in processing purgatory.

Turns out my dad got video of every one of my shots in Mallorca. My phone has been constantly vibrating for the last 5 minutes as they keep coming in. Oh boy. I guess I'll upload those as well and then I can work out my total for the whole competition. I didn't really keep track during so it'll be interesting to see.

Thanks! I think I have to have a word with the cameraman though. My dad took individual videos for each shot so I actually did no editing basically, but it means all the videos are very short and jumpy. Next time I would want a whole round filmed so it#s easier to keep track of what happened when.

El domingo dia 1 de marzo "Dia de les illes Balears" se disputo la quinta y penultima competición de la que comprendia el
VII Encuentro Internaciona de Tiro con Honda y fue puntuable para la "1ª COPA DEL MUNDO MATEU CAÑELLAS ROCA".

La tirada fue en la modalidad de pelota y se lanzaron dos rondas de 5 piedras cada participantes, osea un total de 10 lanzamientos.

En el acto de entrega de premios estuvo presente nuestro Presidente Honorifico Pep Sanchis y el Director General de Relacions Institucionals de la Conselleria de Presidencia del Govern Balear, Sr. Miquel Angel Coll, ademas de varios directivos de la Federacio Balear de Tir de Fona.

Esta competición de Tir de Fona se realizo en el marco incomparable del Parc de la Mar, con las Murallas y la Catedral de Palma como fondo.

The tournament improved significantly over time 😊
My three highlights were
of course being champion at a tournament 😉 and bringing home one gold and four silver cups
Having a hattrick at a tournament (three consecutive dianas)
Aaand the wonderful setting for the last two tournaments, picture attached) right in front of the cathedral
It was great, also with the chance to visit the wonderful market there, haha I spent sooo much money on wonderful things 😊

Thank you so much! I was so impressed by how good everyone was and I definitely learned a lot from getting to see everyone sling. It was over way too fast. I think next time (if corona doesn't keep us inside forever...) I'll be coming for at least two weeks. Get to see a bit more of the island and hopefully spend some more time hanging out with whoever is around :D

She was unbelievably good. 3x as much power as I can get out of Balearic style.
