Title: Sling Bowling
Post by joe_meadmaker on Jun 23rd, 2019 at 11:26pm
I tried sling bowling with some empty Mountain Dew bottles.  It was a lot of fun once I got the setup figured out.  :D

The sling is 28.25 inch (72 cm) braided cotton twine with a leather pouch.  This is a sling I've had for a while, but just recently added the leather pouch to it.  I've had it out a couple times, but this was its most intensive test to date.

Thanks!

I had another entertaining hit that was lost.  It was when the bottles were still filled with water.  I got a nice hit and as they were falling over, most of the bottles stayed on the little table.  The shift in weight actually broke it.  The whole thing fell apart and it was hilarious.  But my phone decided it was going to record that one completely out of focus.  :(

I need to get a new phone.  Or another camera to do recording.

Did I see an archery target in the yard ?? What bows do you shoot ? Hunt?

Thanks!  Yep, I use my archery target as a table to hold a bucket of ice balls.

Most of my bows are self bows that I made.  Some are long bows and some are flat bows.  I've got a couple made from hickory, one from elm, a hackberry, osage orange, slippery elm, and a yew.  I have a couple others that I bought, but nothing fancy.  I just do target shooting.  I was never a good enough shot to try hunting.  Although I'll take a shot at a groundhog if I see one in the yard.
