As those of you who have been reading my posts for a while know, I live in a haunted little house.. a very haunted house.  That may sound insane but anyone who's ever lived here has no doubt whatsoever.  Some of the ways in which my supernatural guests make their presence known are tapping from inside the walls or from under the cement slab floor, puddles of perfectly clean water (not dog urine) appearing where water couldn't possible appear, the distinct sound of footsteps stomping around upstairs when no one is upstairs, and personal items disappearing, sometimes for months at a time.  Or forever.  If these items do reappear they're always right out in the open in a spot that we've looked in several times.  Recently Casper and friends have found a couple of new ways to mess with us.
     The other night Mike and I were in the livingroom talking.  From the kitchen we heard the sound of glass breaking.  We went into the kitchen and discovered something? had shattered on the floor.  From the way it was spread all over the place it had to have been dropped from high up. We found all of the pieces but couldn't identify what the object had been.  Parts of it were very thick. 
    Last week I was returning from walking one of the dogs.  I usually come in the side door.  I couldn't budge the outside storm door.  "Strange, I know I didn't lock it."  So I went around to the front and let us in.  Then I went to check out the outside side door.  Sure enough it wasn't locked.  So why wouldn't it open?  I checked and the handle was working properly.  There was no reason for the door to not open.  I am not small and I put all the weight I dared put onto the door without breaking it and it didn't budge.  "This is insane! There's nothing holding it!"  I tried several more times but the door, which had never stuck before or since, wouldn't budge.  After about forty five seconds the door opened freely as if nothing had been wrong and it's been working just fine ever since. 
     As I have mentioned before, there is absolutely nothing frightening about living in a haunted house, which I still find surprising.  I always imagined it would be terrifying. People have suggested several means of ridding myself of my non-living residents.  I would miss them.  Ghosts don't lie to me, cheat on me, or mooch off of me. I'm fine with ghosts. I can't wait to see what they pull next.
    

Until, on a freezing cold day, you get the bathwater exactly perfect, you step in, sit down, lean back and relax, you start to feel your muscles unkink and then... ;D they turn the water freezing cold....

    If these were isolated incidents then I'd still be skeptical.  The water appearing has happened several times.  The footsteps upstairs are a very regular thing.  The tapping has happened countless times.  Usually it's in the kitchen but it's also happened in the livingroom and from under the bathroom floor, which is solid cement.  The items disappearing has plagued me for years.  I like to keep an open mind about things but I was skeptical about hauntings.  I imagined there would have to be a logical explanation.  Here there is only one explanation.  This house is haunted.

I myself had previously shared some of my own personal experiences. Ever since then though. I had one of the most horrific sleep paralysis encounters I’ve ever had. You can call bs and laugh, I don’t care, I know I experienced this. Usually my sleep paralysis is nothing particularly terrifying; just a bit of nervousness,  and struggling to move, typical physiology. But this one was different; I was covered by my blanket, everything was unnaturally dark. I felt something violating me from the inside. I became terrified as I felt some presence practically sprinting into my paralyzed body, holding me down. But immediately after I realized all this; I felt the urge to shout a prayer, and so I did, “I condemn thee in the name of Jesus!” In this; my torso began to violently shake as if some presence was trying to cling to my flesh. Moments later; it was all over.

Now at first I just thought it was just a physiological, horrible vivid dream. But a couple years later; I thought more deeply on it. The fact that it ended after I prayed to God is a little too big of a coincidence for me to simply write off as “just sleep paralysis.” However it ended, I literally thank God it did in the way it had.

I have lived and worked in so many haunted places. I seen a ton of crazy stuff. I do believe. Since moving to maine. I haven't dealt with anything paranormal.  But I have seen multiple UFOs

Lately I've been looking into cryptids. Especially one called Dogman. You Michigan guys may have heard of that one. You go into these things thinking it's a big joke. Several hundred  different eyewitnesses later and it's hard to say they are all mistaken. Just gets me wondering is all. Bigfoot too but Dogman is so much stranger.

Sleep paralysis is a fascinating subject worthy of it's own thread.

Long time believer. We were at a B and B in Indiana only ones in the house other than the invisible person walking up the stairs,then things disappeared from my wife's train case and   turned up again it was sealed in a blister pack with a rubber band around it .I heard furniture moving in the room behind us  and people laughing on the rug in front of the piano downstairs   not frightening just kind of neat .
BTW we are both psychic...take that as you may .

Philosophically speaking, the spiritual realm is, by definition, outside the scope of science except where the spiritual and physical intersect and there is some physical evidence that can be measured. If ghosts and such turned out to be some multidimensional trickery that still obeys the laws of this universe, then they aren’t spiritual at all. Otherwise when a scientist claims any expertise about such things, it is only because of scientific arrogance and the fact that many scientists don’t understand the meaning of the scientific method.

If you define ghosts as human souls without bodies, then my personal opinion is that they are only transitional and do not linger on earth to interact before going to their final destination, but some really weird stuff can happen when someone is on their death bed. The things that do the routine “haunting” are not human but are sentient and intelligent and they do not necessarily have our best interests in mind.

When I was a child, I had a dream that can only be described as a visit by an evil spirit. It was a lucid dream where, unlike most dreams, I was walking through my own house with the exact same layout as the real one. I was drawn to the bathroom, where I stood looking at the mirror. Suddenly a demonic face rose up from behind the bathroom counter... inside the mirror! It didn’t say or do anything. It just stared at me, smiling until I woke up screaming. I was terrified to go to the bathroom for a long time after that.

  So much that we take for granted as fact now was considered supernatural or witchcraft just a handful of generations ago.  I truly believe that such supernatural phenomenon as mentioned here will one day be included within the realm of science.  One big stumbling block is that there is so much hokum and bulljive out there. For every one real occurrence of some supernatural event there are probably hundreds if not thousands of fake ones.  The same can be said for UFOs.  I'm 99% certain they are real yet there are so many false sightings that people who actually do see something are afraid to come forward out of fear of being branded a nut case.

    I've had premonitions, both in dreams and when wide awake so I know they're real.  Unfortunately they can be decades apart so recreating them in a laboratory environment would be next to impossible.  I like to keep an open mind.  There are things I've experienced that modern science can't account for yet.  Ghosts or whatever you want to call them I was skeptical about.  These days they're like a regular part of my life.

   The natives are restless.  It seems that my supernatural residents have the ability to exert physical force when they want to.  First it was them jamming the back door as I mentioned previously.  Last night I got home from bowling.  I walked up to my front door, barely touched it, and the big glass pane in it exploded into a million pieces.  Now that was weird.  When I got in the house Pandora was fenced in the bedroom with a baby gate.  But she was loose when I left the house and Mike saw her loose and even gave her treats in the livingroom.  So how did she get gated into the bedroom?    The glass door exploding was as violent as they've gotten so far.  Yet I don't believe it was an attempt to injure me.  I'm taking it as a warning about....  something?  The weirdest part; you'd think a glass door blowing up in your face for no reason would be terrifying.  Not at all.  It's just another day around here. 

Edit:  The most disturbing part about all of this is that it's not terrifying.  I could watch a movie about all of this stuff happening to someone and it would scare the poop out of me.  So why isn't it frightening in real life?  I really don't understand it at all.  How is it that I'm completely comfortable living in a totally haunted house?

One question... Was the gate already set up in the bedroom doorway? Could she merely have jumped over it and stayed in there? Did your roommate set it up?

So I've mentioned some experiences I've had in previous threads. I'm a spiritual person, largely due to the fact that I've had experiences that I can't really explain; lots of them. I don't even get psyched out by them anymore. I just accept the world's a bit bigger and weirder than current science is ready to acknowledge. Here's another that happened something like 8 years ago.

I had recently got into a fight with an in-law. I very rarely get into verbal arguments with people. Despite my sometimes outspoken posts on here, I'm actually pretty laid back for the most part but this person had stepped over the line and I said some stuff before I realized I was even saying it.

So I was fuming over it the next day playing a game on the computer and I think I just let it go on too long. I finally was thinking something like "screw this I'm just going to do what I want" in relation to any consequences with this person or my life in general. (The details of the debate don't really matter here).

Anyways, as soon as I thought that in my head I had a really vivid picture of a woman in my head, almost like I was actually seeing someone with my eyes it was so vivid. She said to me "What am I going to do with you?" Then she raised her hands in frustration and folded her arms. She had sort of a look of half frustration and half amusement on her face. There was a sense of familiarity about her. Almost like I knew her, but at the very least she seemed to know me really well.

I was shocked. I had no earthly idea of what just happened. Never had an experience like that before. I was thinking to myself "What was THAT?" Then half jokingly thought hey maybe it's my guardian angel of something. Then, "Could an angel even do that? Do they do that?"  I was prepared to pass this off as a weird daydream caused by me being upset.

Then very distinctly as if a reply to my questioning what an angel could do I heard her say "Someone will come through that door right now".

Sure enough, not more than a second or two later there was a knock on the door and the same in-law walked in without waiting for a response and gave me something as sort of a reconciliation gift. She walked in and my mouth hit the floor. I wasn't even mad about her not waiting for me to say come in lol. She gave me a bag of M&M's or something and mentioned someone had given them to her. She's more stubborn than I am which is saying something but I kind of figured it was her way of apologizing and the whole time I was just staring at her with my mouth open dumbfounded lol.

All this happened over the course of a minute or two so I didn't have a chance to process it at all. It really sort of shocked me a bit. To this day I don't know what that was about. I've not had another experience like that one and I've had plenty of frustrating experiences before and since that so it's not like I'm prone to such things lol... Anyways, just one more thing I've had to log away in my mind.

  No, I'm certain the gate was down when I left.  I crate Benji when I'm gone.  He's a bad boy if I leave him loose in the house on his own.  The only reason the gate is ever up is to keep Benji out of the bedroom where he can hide in the closet.  Once he wedges himself in the closet he's impossible to get out.  Benji was crated and the gate was down when I left.  Mike never touches the gate.  He has no reason to. He remembers it being down when he fed Pandora some Chinese food in the livingroom earlier that evening. 
    Max is terrified of the kitchen chairs.  He  didn't start out that way. It's something that's gradually increased over time. He won't go near them.  If I want him to go out I have to make sure I've pushed them completely under the table.  It makes me wonder if the chairs get moved around when I'm not there. Maybe I can install a cheap security camera or something.  Or maybe I don't want to know. LOL.
   Could your womanly apparition be a deceased relative, Morphy?  A grandmother or great grandmother? 

Ya sometimes it's better not knowing for sure lol. I'm totally with you on that. Reminds me of that scene from Poltergeist with the chairs. Great movie...  ;D

She might be a relative. It's possible. Or maybe I had some bad food haha.... Really you always want to classify this stuff as just in your mind but the problem comes when you try to understand why it's never happened before or since. I think if that experience was in fact something other than a huge coincidence that perhaps it's a long dead relative looking out for me. There's a lot of stories out there of people having such experiences. I try to stay open minded to all possibilities.

True and that is a good way to look at it. While I would like to think just maybe there was more to it than all in the mind I also find a certain peace being able to admit I don't know for sure and being totally fine with that as well.

    Here's something a little off topic but strange.  Several times I've had dreams that I can play piano.  I play piano now but in my own bizarre way.  In the dream I am sight reading complicated pieces and playing them to perfection.  I am really good; a maestro. In reality I understand the fundamentals of reading music and can do so, but at a snails pace,  I have lacked the discipline and have  been too lazy to learn to sight read.  I mostly play by ear.  The strange part is that it's not like I'm looking at a movie of me playing piano.  I genuinely understand completely what I'm doing.  I have the physical memory. I know the music inside and out and how to sight read.  The knowledge stays with me for a few seconds after I'm awake then fades. Then I'm back where I started.  The only explanation I can come up with for this is that this is knowledge passed down from some ancestor like a race memory.  Otherwise this baffles me.  How nice it would be if it would stay with me for more than a few seconds after I wake up.

Well exactly! There's nothing to say that all our experiences aren't actually completely false. As such "reality" is really just a shared hallucination. All our experiences are the product of inputs from our senses, processing by our brains and outputs that are interpreted by our minds. There are multiple degrees of seperation between "how things ready are" and what we experience. I kind of see it that experiences or impressions can very greatly and deeply affect some people and for others they don't but the second persons experience doesn't invalidate the first persons. With religion, to touch on a dangerous subject :D, I don't particularly gain anything fronm a church service whilst other people can get a lot of strength or reassurance or comfort from it. We all have our own realities so it's important to recognise that and maybe try to share and understand those realities with others. Conversation is where reality is made :D

Musical dreams are some of my favorite. Something about dreams seems to connect us to a realm of pure creativity and creation. Like our subconscious mind has already figured a lot of stuff in our daily life out without our conscious mind being able to tap into it. I used to have dreams about playing the guitar and this music I would play would just come through me effortlessly. Like it already existed somewhere  and I was simply translating it into this reality. It would go on and on without repeating and yet really deep and it was a feeling of pure creativity. Very cool feeling.

    In many haunted house movies and books one or more of the victims is lulled into complacency then cooperation by whatever is doing the ghostly deeds.  The Shining is one of many examples.  I never thought I could live in a haunted house let alone be just fine with it. I have no reaction whatsoever to things that should be giving me the eeby jeebies.  It makes me wonder.

I’m telling you RM... ghosts are not something to mess around with.  I don’t think “ghosts” are former humans or well-intended angels, and I don’t think you can assume they are harmless.  I used to know a pastor who got into doing exorcisms at his house in the evenings. He was even cataloguing demonic hierarchical structures as he worked to cast them out from people. He quit doing all of that shortly after one session during which his young daughter woke up, came downstairs, and said “daddy, I don’t want to die”.
Mess with them, and they will probably try to mess with you back.

    Thanks, NOC.  I have no intention of messing with them.  Other than some mischief and my front door being demolished we've gotten along pretty well in the past almost five years.  I'd like to keep it that way.

   What ever is causing these events to occur, it or they were here first.  I'm the new guy and though I technically own the house it's really their show.  Besides me, the house is empty and there's one walking around upstairs right now as I type.  It's cool.  I've been dealing with this for almost five years now.  I very much like this little house and neighborhood plus I'm financially committed to staying here.  Leaving wouldn't be impossible but it would be costly for me.  So stomp away, Casper.  I'm here for the duration.

Mike says he has twice since moving in here not quite two years ago.  When daughter Kate lived here she claims to have seen one also.

I've had a lot of weird experiences in my life but yet to see an actual  ghost right in front of me. Also yet to see a Sasquatch for all my time outdoors. Two things I would really like to see before leaving this Earth.

   I'm apprehensive about seeing a ghost as most people are.  However, due to my recent experiences I suspect that also will fail to be frightening. I've never seen a UFO though several of my immediate family members did before I was born so I believe they're real.  That would be something to see.   

    The ghosts have been quiet for over three months now. This happens from time to time.  They will be back. Last week something happened that is totally weird.  I'm not sure if my non-living residents were involved since this doesn't fit their normal m.o.  but I'm at a loss for a logical explanation.
    It was a normal day with just the dogs and I here.  Mid afternoon I put Pandora and Benji in the side yard to do their business and get some fresh air.  About twenty minutes passed and I got a knock at my front door.  It was one of my neighbors returning my dogs that had gotten loose. 
    "OMG, did I brain fart and leave one of the gates open?"  I checked and both gates were closed and latched at the top and bottom.  Unlike the back yard which has a four foot fence they can jump with ease the side yard has a 6 1/2 foot fence.  They can't jump over it.  I inspected for holes under the fence and there were none.  The gates were latched, they can't jump over the fence, and they didn't dig under it.  I don't want to blame everything on the supernatural but I am baffled. 

  After a four month absence the tapper inside the walls is back.  I missed him/her.

Hey Rat man .'my wife and i were in a haunted B and B  in indiana..you are right it is very interesting .we were the only ones in the house.
every night the footsteps came up the stairs but the motion sensor light didn't come on . my wife lost the contents of a sealed container from her purse  an hour later they were back  .the most fun though was the nightly party going on in front of the day room piano  ..they were really whooping it up. didn't invite me though, i was mad .

   It's been fairly quiet downstairs... just some occasional wall tapping.  Upstairs has been a different story.  Both yesterday and right now the footsteps upstairs are louder than they've ever been.  Yesterday I almost went upstairs to check if someone was up there.  Of course no one is... that's impossible since I can see both the front and back doors from where I'm sitting. Both yesterday and today the loudest stomping was shortly after Mike left for work.  I'll have to ask him if he's noticed any extra activity up there.

Other than being offended by the silly premise of the Poltergeist movie, I’m not sure why native Americans would be more likely to haunt someone than, say... a New Yorker. 

I am hoping more for a Beetlejuice after life than a poltergeist after life. Hopefully we get a say.

   Being able to haunt people would be fun.  I'd be an SOB as a ghost. 
   There's a funny scene in the movie Ghost where Patrick Swayze is a ghost and Whoopie Goldberg won't do his bidding so he sings Herman's Hermits "Henry the Eighth" over and over until she gives in.  I can see that working.

    Other than one incident four or five nights ago things have been quiet.  Mike was standing in the doorway to the kitchen.  Suddenly something exploded at is feet.  It was a glass candle holder.  This is the second time this has happened.  The thing is that there are no glass candle holders in the kitchen.  Also, though the window was opened there was no wind at all that night and consequently no reason for anything to fall, especially something relatively dense.
    Besides that my supernatural friends have been quiet.  No wall tapping and almost no stomping around upstairs.  This might sound insane but I miss them when they go dormant. They'll be back.

   Speaking of ancient burial grounds, the Leni Lenape tribe occupied all of New Jersey, southern New York, and Eastern Pennsylvania for countless centuries before we white skinned devils ever showed up.  I don't know if anyone's grave was disturbed when this house was built but it's possible. 

    The news is that there is no news.  My ghosts are silent.  It figures that in a sucky year like 2020 my ghosts would quit on me.  During their periodic absences I've always taken for granted that they'd be back. I guess they could be storing up energy for something big.  Missing them is sort of crazy but I am used to them.

  I am such a miserable old S.O.B. even ghosts won't live with me. I thought ghosts drove the living out of their houses, not the other way around. Maybe they were disappointed that they didn't scare me. I don't know.  :'( :-/

    Hauntings have been minimal during the past few weeks but enough to let me know my supernatural residents are still here.  The footsteps upstairs when no one is home but me, Mikes door opening and closing on it's own, etc.  No wall tapping recently.  If nothing else my ghosts are creative.  They're always coming up with new ways to haunt.  Their latest trick is shooting mini lightning bolts.  From different points in the kitchen at least a dozen times there has been the popping of electrical arcing.  Mike has heard it too.  Sometimes it's slight, sometimes it's quite loud. Of course our first step was to look for a logical explanation.  Of course there isn't one.  Nothing is malfunctioning.  Our ground is good.  There is no reason whatsoever for arcing to occur randomly throughout the kitchen. 
    Anyway, it's good to see some new ghostly activity.  It's much more fun to live in a haunted house than a normal one. 

   In that my last post on this thread was ten months ago obviously things have been very quiet.  Until two weeks ago. The wall tapping was back.  Most of the time it occurs in the kitchen around the cabinets over the freezer though it can happen anywhere in the house.  It did happen in the usual spot and also from inside one of the livingroom walls.  As I wrote above, if nothing else my ghosts are creative.  Shortly after I heard the tapping from inside the wall over the freezer I was putting something away in the cabinet and there floating in front of the cabinet was a warm spot.  It was approximately 18" x 18" x 18" and just sort of hanging there doing nothing.  It was considerably warmer than the rest of the house, that I keep at 60F in the colder weather.  I was at least 85 or 90F.  It intrigued me in that it was something totally new.  It was there for about twenty seconds then it slowly faded.
     I've read that cold spots indicate an evil presence and warm ones indicate a benign or friendly entity.  I have no idea if this is true or not.  So much of the paranormal is infested with hokum and bull crap. 
    Anyway, after such a long drought it was good to see some activity. 

Edit;  I failed to mention that on the same day the tapping resumed the sound of footsteps tromping around upstairs occurred again but just once.  It hasn't happened since. 

   Things have been slow but in the past few weeks three incidents did occur.
    First the warm spot returned.  There are no vents, wires, electronics, or anything else that might cause a warm spot in this location.  This spot, above the freezer and under some high cabinets, seems to be the center of activity in that it's also where 90% of the tapping occurs.  It's there for about twenty seconds then disappears.
    Shortly after the warm spot returned I found something very odd in my bedroom... the front of two of the middle drawers in one of my chest of drawers were soaking wet.  There are no pipes and this is on the first floor so a roof leak, which I don't have, wasn't the cause.  Also it wasn't dog pee.  A dog would have urinated on the lower drawers, not the middle ones and besides it was clean water.  If you've been following along you know that this isn't the first time clean water appeared where it had no business being.
     The third incident happened just a few days ago.  I take six different vitamins every morning.  When I opened the cabinet, which is the one where most of the tapping and the warm spots occur, one of my vitamin bottles was missing.  There were only five.  I searched the cabinet several times then took a flashlight and checked behind and alongside the freezer.  No Calcium.  Weird but nothing surprises me in this house.  Again, if you've been following you know that items taken by whatever haunts my house are either taken forever or they show up later in an obvious spot that you've looked many times.  The next morning, true to form, there was the Calcium bottle back in its cabinet sitting prominently out in front of the other five bottles.  Nothing like ghosts with a sense of humor.

In that the occurrences are very random a tour probably wouldn't fill the bill.  You'd have to live here for a few weeks.
