Hello.
Made my first sling yesterday and then a second one for my 17 yo son. We had fun slinging gum nuts across the road into the bush. The slings were basic aussie style with cord. Took a total of about 30 minutes to make both. The son already wants some improvements/modifications to his basic sling. Good things this is such a cheap hobby. :) Geoff |

Nope , look up , Corymbia calophylla fruit , that's your typical gum nut , but it's not a nut

Australian gum nuts are pretty much nature's version of the Burnswark sling bullets. Round and with a hole. If you throw them right, they are a joy to sling because they whistle. Bonus points if they are green and fresh off the tree, because they have more mass than the brown ones you pick up off the ground. You can also find them alot in parks, so you can find ammunition pretty easily if you are going for a stroll, at least where I live. Yep that's them, well they're more likely Corymbia ficifolia same but different.
If you throw them with hole at the rear they get the best flight, I actually think this shape is pretty areodynamic |

Vary but as small as the end of your thumb to slightly bigger than a golf ball , maybe up to 50g for a really really heavy one , most are around 20-30 at a guess
