if it's an avatar check the size, they have to be really bloody small.

Yeah, I just tried resizing it, even went all the way down to 50x36 and got the same message still.

I get the same message - vaguely recall we had the same issue last time as well.

Have to try and remember how we got round it.

Just upgraded this machine for xp to 7 - so haven't installed the ftp software yet.

Well, this is what seemed to have worked last time: “I'll check the yabbfiles - but unless all these bloody huge pictures have clogged the server can't see why there would be an issue.

Huh - weird. I changed the avatar thingy to 65 x0 'cos it said that would keep the images proportional.
And that's what buggered it up. reset it to 65x65 and it works fine and doesn't resize to exactly 65x65 - go figure.

Anyway, works now.”

nah reckon I probably did what i did just now.

just changed the avatar link to the one I posted above.
still saved on the forum servers - just in a different folder :-)

Hi, I’ve just registered here and tried to upload my avatar. I proceeded with all kinds of sizes (including 65 × 65 px) and file formats (gif, png8, png24, etc.)—to no avail. File size is always under 10 kB. Yet I’m shown the same error message as OP every time.

How did you solve this problem eventually? I can’t really figure from the sequence of posts in this thread.

(I don’t know if it’s customary to revive old threads here, especially if OP and/or contributing members don’t participate any more. If not: sorry for bouncing this old topic, will create a new thread next time.)

No problem at all bumping the thread.  This is an issue that's basically fallen into the category of 'we have to live with it'.

There is a workaround.  You can find it here: https://slinging.org/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1717034891.  I'll pin the post so maybe it will be easier to find.  Probably should have done that when I created it.  Let me know if you have any problems.

Thank you Joe, that makes sense. (Well, the ‘how’ does—the ‘why’ is another story­ …) I’ll use the introductory post to embed my avatar, then.

Edit: I did it and can hereby confirm that the method worked for me.
