Title: Hi from Belfast,
Post by slingingrocksforfun on Aug 27th, 2018 at 6:10pm
Hi fellow slingers, good to have this forum.

Just started slinging a few months back and i am finding it addictive at the moment. Made several leather pouch slings and using rounded pebbles from 100 - 160 grams. I am using an underhand style and sling at a 80x40cm target at 40m. Accuracy is getting better.

I have several unused all weather(fine gravel) football pitches nearby where i can let fly. Have to watch out for dog walkers. It is easy to find ammo after a slinging session.

Looking forward to speaking with forum members.

Welcome from France !

I go to Belfast 3 times in my life. In 1977, 1980 and 2013. I have like to all people in NI.

But we are here for slinging and it's true, slinging is very addictive. Probably because it's difficult and primitive.

To Tombelaine,
You will have seen many changes in Belfast since 1977.
Yes, there is something about slinging that makes it so compelling. It is such a good feeling when every thing connects and you sling that near perfect shot. So many factors to consider when slinging, wind, distance, muscle feeling, minute degrees, style, and the need to relax to tie it all together. Yeah, primitive, its difficulty is also its attractiveness.

you want the chaps at FOKAI

Tell you what getting an actual physical address is not easy.
It's actually an indoor skate park, but the fokai guys are currently the world's top sling promoters - mind you that's in guam :-)
But they all sling and shimmy was talking about bringing a proper irish team to mallorca next year.

Loads of stuff online and on facebook - but an actual physical address in case you wanted to, you know, actually go there - that I can't find :-(

found it !
Dunno how near it would be to you: 4A Coburg Street
Cork
But drop them a line on facebook.

We do have members scattered around ireland as well.
But like most people they joins up, post a cuple threads and then disappear.

FOKAI is chamorro for:
Quote:
A local word in Guam that has since been adopted as a very popular brand of clothing started by a close group of friends in Guam. The brand was first gained popularity with its connection to mixed-martial arts, but now has included many other extreme sports. Fokai has primarily is used to mean "to go for it", but has been used in slang as meaning "to break something" or simply "f**k you!".
1) He/She has the Fokai attitude, and will never quit.
2) I'm going to fokai your face!
3) Fokai!
