-- the wall shows impacts from shot from engines, and  in 2009 the author found sling bullets in the layers next to the wall (with catapult balls)

It looks like they were excavated then. Supposedly, the bullets are from a siege in 89 BCE.

I had no idea that there were sling bullets found at Pompeii. That's pretty neat. They look like you could still sling them today from those photos.

Those are interesting. They are so small, yet they must have provided an advantage over heavier stones or why bother using them.
