Well, pliers are old invention, but not primitive.

Interesting.

One more way, which I have actually seen used, is to clamp a double edged razor blade and use it as a slashing weapon.

The guy used needle nose like you had and clamped the blade lengthwise. He had a couple of wraps around the joint to keep it clamped shut. I have no idea how he carried it, he pulled it on another guy at a bar in France, the other guy pulled out a knife and I left. I have no idea how the fight turned out.

Timu- I really like the fist protection and your throwing skills!
Bill- more people should take that attitude when a fight breaks out. When people flock to a fight it makes the situation worse

Yes, the right solution is to leave quickly. If you buy popcorn, and stay a look at, it may invite trouble.

Most police departments have a simple philosophy regarding bar fight, and this is pretty much true for all countries, and that is to arrest everyone present and sort it out down at the jail. Especially if weapons of any kind are used.

As I have nothing to prove and no desire to be arrested, when fights start, I leave.
