It seems more a "rockman" cause a balearic sling would not be woven. I made a triple rockman once

where I integrated the overlap, that is something typical in a rockman sling.

As the middle part is under the outer ones it moves away from the ammo upon release.

Yours looks much better than my sling, the weaving is very clean.

Yep. I have a true triple Balearic from Mallorca, braided and leather lined. I really should get around to taking some pics of it.

@ Morningstar : Ya you gotta post up a few pics! Including measurements and I'd really like to hear your opinion on its functionality.

@ lakeslinger : your triple rockman looks great! I had no idea I was following something someone already made, which makes it better for me because now I can ask what your experience is with it in terms of performance.


    I took my triple rockman out yesterday and it performed admirably. I don't think I will make a different kind when it comes to my personal use. It handled every rock size, shape, and weight with ease. It was good knowing that the large pouch would securely hold all rocks, even without leather. Also, the rather large pouch was not cumbersome or too big. The release of the rocks was also perfect, not fettered by the length or width of the pouch. I will say though that the 9 strings of 1/16 th inch utility cord woven down each side of the sling helped manage the large pouch with extra support. I'm probably going to try it out again today, thanks for all the kind words everyone!

  It looks  more like a Rockman than a Balearic to me also.  A Balearic sling's pouch, besides being braided and not woven, is much thinner.  Anyway, you created a great looking sling.

Accidentally deleted my own post when attempting to modify. I don't know if a moderator can put this back at the top of these posts for me, if not no big deal.

    So Ive taken all of your guys advice and tried something different. First of all thank everyone for your comment and input. The wealth of knowledge and experience you guys have given is invaluable!

So I figured a giant tut has its advantage by being totally encompassing the rock with full support. However I like the versatility of the balearic pouch for holding different sizes of rocks. So I tried to achieve the qualities of both of the balearic and tut pouches. This is what I came up with based on the link okieslinger posted of a local artisan in the Balearic Islands.

Tell me what you guys think. About to test it out so ill reply back with feedback on how it performed.

Great. so I have a competitior on me weaving... LOL
I have made these in the past and loved them, but stopped using them because I got bored. I am currently using slings that have insane power and range... Not looks or holding a stone well.  I liked them, but the insane amount of cordage needed to make them kinda made me not like them. I have another sling design..,... similar in that it is an edited rockman, but different. I love it, and it does not take massive amounts of cordage to weave.
