NICE!!!!
That is without a doubt bamboo...... Also- be careful with the bamboo, wrap it with leather, electric tape, duct tape, anything... I have gotten some NASTY splinters from bamboo.... and the edges can be sharp enough to cut you easily. I should try this. EDIT- Note there are many species of bamboo. |

I would cut or file those extra points off, as Squirrel' said, those can be very sharp. It looks very similar to ones that I make of rivercane, which is a species of bamboo with out the hard stems.

You MAY find it a bit too long.

Looks good, but I agree with the masses. I'd cut off the extra spurs. In fact, I'd go so far as to sand it down smooth, too. And add some finger loops, if you want to get fancy. But I like the idea of using a spur as the hook.

For now, I used it to shot 3 darts to be and I've taken it as far as possible from the nasty bits that are willing to bit my hand
I will have to make real darts before starting to cut it shorter (it's barely longer than my arm) and so needing to smooth the extra spurs for hand safety. I don't want it to be fancy ;) I want it to be as primitive as possible ;) The only comfort I will add (security put aside) is making a wrapped handle just long enough for my hand from some sling making left over ;) |
