What is the oldest sling or evidence of a sling found to this date? Anybody know?

I believe it's the Lovelock Sling found in North America and dating back 4,000 years. I had a little fun with the link, but don't let it keep you from asking questions. ;) I and everyone else are happy to help with your article. King Tut's sling dates to around 3500 years ago and is the second oldest we know of. Slings are probably much older than that, but they're made of materials that break down easily and leave little trace.

I was going to say the King Tut sling as well. They've been around quite a while.

Wait guys, the oldest evidences of slings that I know are some clay bullets from Southern Italy (Neolithic, approx. 5500-5000 years bp), and some much older cave pictures in France; I've to look at my books but if you can wait this evening, I'll give you further info.
We already discussed about this and you will find better info in that thread, look for it using the search button  :)
Greetings,
Mauro.

The sling in Manchester Museum from Lahun, Egypt is 4000 years old.

Damn.... it was in the same page of this discussion!
http://slinging.org/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1328303355 - the antiquity of the sling.

And here's the topic where I was discussing these Italian bullets:
http://slinging.org/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1328603937
they dates back to 7000 years bp and not 5500 as I wrote above.

Please, try not to be so hasty when opening new topics - we have tons of information here, take a look at the forum's pages before  :)
Greetings,
Mauro.

I will do that. I did not think to look on this page for what I was looking for, rather my topic was moved here. Next time I will look a little harder.  ;D ;) Thanks for the info.

You're welcome, Jon, I hope the information we provide will be of some use!
Still, no answer from the historian I was trying to contact... the guy saying that slinging is 80'000 years old  :(
Greetings,
Mauro.

Also remember that any sling related items we happen to find/dig up are chance discoveries. It's likely that the sling far pre-dates the oldest sling projectiles we've happened to come across.
