Title: Amdo Craft- Handmade Tibetan Slings
Post by Eoraptor on Dec 17th, 2011 at 8:39pm
Good slings for a good cause at a good price.  Handmade in Tibet, I think the deal is that if you buy two or more there is no shipping.

Yes, you are right.
One sling will be 7USD plus 6 USD shipping
Two slings will be 14USD.

Item Name: Sling
尔恰(抛石鞭)
Size: 2m
Price: US $7 (incl. world wide shipping)
Article Number: E10

That's what it says on your website.
Doesn't mention any extra shipping - you might want to add that there is extra shipping for just one sling.

Yes, you are right, that is a bit confusing.  We are busy making a whole new website, which will have these details mentioned more clearly.

Our new website is up and running. Please have a look.

We have Tibetan Slings:  http://www.amdocraft.com/shop/en/e10.html
And we have lots of other Tibetan Hand made products:  http://www.amdocraft.com/shop/en/
We try to keep the prices low:  A sling for about 3.50 USD (excl shipping).

Help us help the Tibetan nomads.

Update on our Amdocraft Tibetan slings:

We have raised the prices of the slings.  This for several reasons:

-  The cost of wool, labour and fuel has nearly doubled in the last 2 years.
-  We want to give the Tibetan nomads a fair wage and after discussing with them what is fair, we agreed to raise the money that we give them
-  Recently we had a few times an order for slings and we lost money because shipping suddenly fell in a different category.  Not the fault of the customer at all, but we decided that we needed to have a bit more buffer in case that happens.

At the moment the price of 1 Tibetan sling is at USD 5.55
And remember it is always better value for money to buy 2 or 3 slings, because the shipping per sling will go down.

You can order the slings here:   http://www.amdocraft.com/shop/en/e10.html

Happy slinging  8-) and greetings from Tibet,

Klaas

We got several sling orders recently. Great. We just picked up another 50 or so slings made by our Tibetan Nomad producers. It really helps to give them some additional income. Thanks.

I just recieved my order for 5 of these, and they are better than I would have hoped. Each one is different in weave pattern, and there is some variation in release cord styles as well. Very nice. Adding one to my EDC bag  :)

Thanks for the order.  We hope to ship the sling on Monday and it usually takes 10-20 days from here (China - Tibet) to the UK. We ship with registered China Postal service.

I want to confirm I have just recieved the sling (will post picture later on), its very nice, and looks well made... the packaging was great, stamps are beautiful but next time no tape :( ruins the stamps... nice pattern and hopefully made by a beautiful young tibetan virgin... as I believe it makes the sling better that way  ;)

Thanks for your feedback.  I do have to disappoint you, I guess, because slings are in most cases made by the Tibetan man.  :(
Women do most of the spinning and weaving.

I got three of these in the post today. :)

They are very well made. My only issue is the release cord is too long on all three, by more than a couple of inches. I'm not sure how to proceed with shortening it without ruining the braid.

Other than that though, excellent!  ;D

If it's thick enough you, maybe you're supposed to grip it at the braid itself, like a balearic sling.
I could be wrong though.  :-/

How long are they?
