Title: Snowballs- What gloves do you use? Post by Woonilsra on Nov 6th, 2011 at 4:19pm
I can't last more than three snowballs before my hands are to cold to continue slinging.
So this begs the question- for those of you who sling snowballs, how? -Gloves? -Enlarged finger loop? -Any sling that isn't the Aussie pouch? |

used to use the thick ones, make the snowball, take off the glove, then sling. after getting tired of that i wore only one glove on my non slinging hand (for me left) and made snowballs using only my left hand and my forearm of my right for a guide (squeeze the clump of snow in the gloved hand to compact the snow, use your gloved forearm (should be in a jacket-works best if waterproof) to make it a rounder shape if it isn't already, place in sling, fire away. of course your hand would then by pretty cold just by being in the cold whether, but you can't have everything right?
i was going to try something out with latex gloves under thinner gloves, or latex gloves over thing wool ones. idk, i moved before i got the chance to test them out. |

What? ::) Gloves in a snowball fight? :-?
Don't need'em after a while your hands get numb and you won't feel the cold. |

Using gloves during a snowball fight would be like using a rocket launcher during a fencing duel.
Vile and vulgar ;D ;) Mauro. |

Jersey Gloves.
A buck a pair. Thin and don't get in the way. They get wet quick, but they're a buck a pair. :) |

I can not use gloves during a snowball fight. I just can't make a proper snowball with them. I'll make a few then stick my frozen hands in my pockets for a bit, then make a few more. I've tried to use gloves and it just isn't the same.

Same as ratman, I amke way better snowballs without gloves cause my body heat melts the snow a bit and makes it a lot better. I am one of those guys that aslo is usually comfortable in really cold weather so I would say you could probably just put your hands in your jacket if you really needed to warm up.
I think my Dad has some neoprene gloves or leather driving gloves that would work pretty well, but again it limits your snowball making ability. |

I use some simple thin leather gloves but they are really warm and they work fine for snowballs.

1. go get a 4 dollar pair of the wells lamont thin leather work gloves, and some mink oil at wal mart.
2. coat the gloves liberally with mink oil and let dry. 3. have fun. the gloves will be water proof and won't inhibit your slinging too much. |

I don't use gloves because I don't sling snowballs when there is very cold and snow is too frozen to make solid snowballs.

Exactly. When it`s cold the snow can`t be made into snowballs. Okay, I`ll admit the snow itself may feel a little cold( :D), when it becomes unbearable it`s time to place the hands in the pockets. timann |

Gloves are inevitably a quick way to making snowballs that are, at best, horribly misshapen. Usually, they just sort of fall apart due to either sticking to the glove, or not sticking to the glove but being shaped with larger, more clumsy gloves. Close fitting driving gloves might work, but not having the sense of touch as accurately in snowball formation still seems like it adds difficulties.
