Put your marker pin on the map provided by Google Maps

Log into your Google account; goto the following url

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=217022325480439323132.0004a844644498d55e539&msa=0&ll=29.64032,-98.151855&spn=7.120254,14.337158

Select the Edit button from the left side of the map near the collaborate  link. Use the add marker button  (blue balloon upper left on the map) to add your marker pin to the map. Remember to save your work via the save button.

Mission accomplished.

how do you add your location to it?

Couldn't find the way to do it...

Maybe I'm blind... but i can't find any "Rat Man Blue Balloon" on the map ?

I have not already tried because it's my girlfriend that is connected to google, but i think it is the small dot between the little yellow man and the directionnal pad.

Am i right ?

you have to have a google account. look in the bottom right where it says edit googl map maker. then click on the blue bubble in the "add" box, click where you want it to go, type in name, and viola!

It isn't enable in France.

And I still can't see anybody else than Steven on the map :-?



PS : In french, your typo (viola instead of voila) take a whole other meaning... like you just raped Google maps :P

He has to personally approve evert pin placed in the map. I don't think this will work. I think I've found a new member map mod, but I have to check and see if it will work with our version of YaBB.

OK, I just went back.  At first my map marker wasn't there but I fiddled around and it popped back up, just like it was when I left it before.  It's there right now.  If it goes away again I don't know what to say.

Uncle.  I tried everything.  I can't do it.

Just changed a setting in the map ... it should allow any one to edit now.

select the edit button on the left side of the screen next to the collaborate link.
then select the add pin button from the map (blue ballon icon) move your pin to place and click to drop.
Remember ... save your changes with the save button.

in the bar thing on the left go under "save to my places" there should a small button beneath it that says edit. then go to the upper left hand corner of the map, click the blue bubble, and put on a city where you live.

@xxkid123 I see your pin. .... general vicinity is close enough to see where members are located. My pin is not on my house or neighborhood it is merely close.

OK, this time I think I'm really in.  In that the member map here never worked for me I think this is a good idea, Steven!

I have also marked my current domain.

Seems like I might have been able to place myself on the map.  It`s not  exactly where I live, but near by, at one of my favorite targets, the ball catcher.
Also near by is my favorite slinging/soccer fields.

Steven's google map idea is fantastic IMO!!!  Now that the bugs are worked out of the idea it is very simple and only takes a second to do.  This may be a great way to connect to other slingers in your area!!!  I was thinking that this could be added as an optional portion in the sign up section when new members are joining...  Also maybe a more permanent link at the top of the discussion for older members that haven't been to the site for awhile.  That way the thread doesn't get buried in a week or two...

Any thoughts???

you have to use the link from the first entry on page 1 then there should be an edit button on the left side of the screen.

I've only used this with firefox I suppose it is a possible browser issue.

I don't think mod powers let us. It'll need to be someone with access to the forum coding (which I don't have, at least.)

Just saw this. My thought would be a stringed musical instrument larger than a violin. Maybe the French are just tired of their language being mangled and look for the worst interpretation.

E. ... You have to be logged into your google account and then select the map link on the first page ... the Edit button should be available if you've logged in.

After reading this the first thing I did was look up Inyo National Forest  ;D. I had never heard of it, but you are right we are pretty close I just don't know the area well yet. The pictures are beautiful.  I've been up to Camp Nelson which is at an elevation where the Sequoias are and that is just beautiful. Nothing like the picture. It's a thick mountain forest paradise.

After looking at the images it looks like the high desert. Very much like where I lived in Southern Utah.

This scenery would rapidly change as you go up into the real mountains. Then you would essentially be surrounded by forests and lakes and meadows. Sort of the best of both worlds.

Well I've been away from slinging for awhile, but added myself to the map. Too bad the closest slinger from me is 300Km+ away, in another country  :-/

Just figured out how to add my location to the map

Once again a map provider (Google this time) has changed their system and our map of pinned locations is lost.

From Google:
"404. That’s an error.

The requested URL was not found on this server. That’s all we know."
