a long time later the cruse missile was invented, the girls are still not impressed.

since I am not allowed to build a cruse missile I thought throwing the rock might be just as much fun, and allot cheaper, and easier to explain.

started making a sling out of a old Bicycle inner tube.

As luck would have it I found a big piece of scrap leather at work.
I could make a few sling pouches out of this.

The leather was to thin, it tore out at the edge where one ties the string threw the hole.

Have you tried folding it over into two or three layers?  Bill

Find something else to use as a cord. Inner tubes are way too flexible to be functional, let alone reasonably safe.
