Title: Jaegoor s Rusty Sling Ball
Post by Jaegoor on Jun 25th, 2011 at 6:21pm
Lately I have destroyed many good stones by slingen
This lies with certainty with my low power
I had an idea
The projectile should go out of shape.
Besides, much injurious energy is absorbed
The Result
A good ammunition for training

She is a little slow as a stone.

But it is suited very well for training.

However, see yourself

Great idea for a reusable ammo, and a quite cheap one.  ;)

I like your idea, Jaegoor. That is what I have been looking for. Do you use waterballons and dry plaster (gypsum) inside? Are they safe for dog? Could you give more datails, please.

Hubert, du kannst das Gewicht so wählen wie Du willst. Ich nehme bei meinem Sand ca 160- 170g. Gebe aber noch Wasser dazu bis ich 200g habe.
Will es demnächst mal mit Stahlgranulat versuchen.

Hi Yurek,

the balloons are simply filled with fine sand.

I take with my sand 160-170 gr. Then I moisten the sand with water. Until I have reached 200 g.

However, the sand may be only humid. Not wet.

My dog sometimes brings these balls. However, he may not bite them.

I would soon like to make Sling  ball with special balloons. These should be more firm.
As filling I would like to take a fine steel granulate material.

Till present I have not got yet to destroy a balloon. With a balloon there was a tear in the external layer. Then one simply pulls an other balloon about that.

With then new balloon this should not happen any more. They will be substantially a sure.

Here I use these balloons as an ammunition for my Staffsling.

They should burst.

However, care. The Sling ball is deadly like other ammunition also potentially. One can see it with the test good. Diane strongly swings by the impact. She has a weight of 75 kg

I'd have trouble believing they are as dangerous as a stone.  I'd credit them as "less-lethal."

This is relative. But a small example of you.

a Waterbomb with 200 g from 3 m is thrown to survive. If one drops them, however, from 3 or 4 etage of a house, there are already the heaviest injuries.

We have already destroyed Shilds only with Waterbombs.

A hit with a Sling ball can break with certainty a neck. Since decisively is the quickened weight.

A blackjack pr a sap often has lead shot in a small pouch, and those are plenty lethal.  It's the mass, not the rigidity that breaks skulls.

nice solution :-)

It is fun making stones exploded on the metal target. But for consistency I can see where you'd want reusable ammo.

Good job - and yep it's going to be every bit as lethal as a stone.

In the meantime, stones of every kind explode even in the wooden record

Jaegoor, thank you for the informations. I am going to try it with waterballons.

I have no doubts that these balls are dangerous. Even tennisballs can be dangerous at close distances.

Yurek Ballons for Waterbomb are too small.
You need them a little greater.

Great ammo Jaegoor! Also an idea come to my mind for a more durable, elastic cover material:bicycle tires cut to required lengths, filled with sand and both ends closed with a piece of wire, like short rubber sausages filled with sand.

The rusty ball reminds me of an improvised footbag of mine...

I seem to stand corrected. Cool!

Jlasud, you could put the sand in a ziplock baggie, or a balloon, and then put it in the inner tube and stitch it closed with hemp or mason's line.

Great idea, simple and effective, sure to make a couple when I have some free time on my hands.
Wondering about one thing, why is it called a "rusty" ball (have a feeling I am missing something obvious...)
