Theres a fair amount of 'flashing' around the bullets and channels. No doubt this was trimmed off and chucked back in the melting pot.

From the West quarter of Eretria, on the island of Euboia. Striking how most sling bullets we have are quite finely finished, with flashing very much reduced-- was it filed off, were bullets polished ? Or was mould work generally very high standard ?

These small projectiles were not used up certainly individually.

The shape is the clue. if there were for 'shotgun' type effect then they would be spherical for even air resistance.
And most likely produced in a shot tower or similiar rather than being specifically moulded.

Because they are ellipsoidal they are designed to be slung one at a time and for the spin imparted by the sling to keep them oriented in flight and to help drill into their target.

I suspect thearos that both your points are true. They would have been very clanly moulded and also finished afterwards.
We have to remember that with their own technology these guys were serious craftsmen, and that manual labour was dirt cheap so a couple of dozen slaves finishing off glandes would have been practical.

Pure lead is very soft, you could easily snip all that off with pincers:

I've fitted an ancient sling bullet in a leather pouch-- small, feels heavy, and sits v. snugly.

The type of sling bullet is known: anchor + thunderbolt, and a lot of flashing. There's one of those in the Flinders Petrie museum in London, and a few in the BM

These Lead Glandes are Nice, What do you all think the weight would be ? I have a Fishing Weight Mold for Egg Sinker's that'll cast 6 OZ. & 8 OZ. Egg Weight's and If you dont use the rod for making the center slide hole's they would be Solid Lead, They would be expensive to use "If you bought them" But If you scrounge around you can salvage Lead from lot's of place's for free, Do you all think these would be a good substitute ? Also I think the Mold could be machined/modifyed so there would be a point on the end of the weight rather than rounded "And that would add more size & weight to the projectile also,

The average weight of lead bullets is pretty well known, in ancient times: a few outliers 100 gr + (3.5 oz); most between 25-50 gr (.88 ounce to 1.75 ounce).So the sinker's a tad too heavy ?

If machined, the mould should have a gentle point at both ends, like an American football or rugby ball.

You can make bullets with mold of refractory cement packed around a large grape. Remember to put a piece of balsa wood to cross section the grape, and leave a tight hole for the grape. Remove the grape with scraping, fire it in an oven, and the mold's good to go. The balsa wood keeps the sides separated, the grape makes the hole. It's much better to make the mold with a dowel in it for pouring/flash. Those bullets from the Swiss website must have been made from some sort of wet sand mold. It looks like the bullet's flash arranged them like a bunch of grapes.

Not sand, I think: you couldn't engrave sharp letters on the side, and those Eretrian ones bear a name (AGROITA).

Archaeologically, the moulds are stone or clay; one known in bronze. I gave some pictures in an earlier post.
