Title: instructions for making catapults! Post by Inuben on Dec 20th, 2008 at 7:58pm
i got an ebook and made a catapult and had a lot of fun with it. i hope some time in the future i can make a bigger version though. I also hope some of you can have fun with any of them and if you have kids it can be great fun. there are a lot of different kinds and it also has information about the catapults themselves, not just how to build them. HOPE U HAVE FUN

Where did you get the ebook ?
I've had a look and can't see any obvious publishing info or copyright notices. But you'd probably be best not to post ebooks on the forum in future. Someone's gone to a lot of effort to produce this and unless you can prove that's it's genuinely public domain then you shouldn't post it on the forum. I've removed it until we can verify that it's genuinly public domain. What website did you get it from ? And just to prove I'm really a nice person I've even resized your pic for you :-) When posting to the forum - try and get it somewhere between 800x600 and 1024x768 :-) |

lol - yeah the guy sells the book on the website for $27.95
Definitely not a freebie. No worries - it happens, but we do try and observe copyright round here. Something of a rarity these days - so just be careful what you post :-) ps: I do like your onagar. |

We call that type a "Spoon-a-pult" for apparent reasons.
Not bad for a first model. Now try adding a sling for better performance. I hope you get hooked on hurling and continue building larger and larger units. Please visit TheHurl.org and trebuchets.50webs.com The Hurl.org is the epicenter of hurling and trebuchets.50webs.com is a great new site run by a good friend. ChuckRocks |

As ChuckRocks said, visit www.TheHurl.org and you'll find out all(more then) you need to know on Trebs
First thing to think about is "What am I going to hurl" once you know that you'll then know how big your counter-weight will need to be (the rule of thumb is CW = 100 X payload) And remember these things don't care if you get in the way, they will eat you |

ive made a ballistae before, a hand version reaaly, i made it because i wanted to shoot arrow darts but grew tired of trying to make bows and crossbows, it worked really good or some time until one of the limbs broke and it was trown to the garbage by my mother.
its like making two opposed cataputs whose's limbs are conected to each other end. and there you go, ballistae :) |
