what state is the book in re: publishing, pdf publishing etc.

judging from the number of posts it doesn't seem to have progressed much since I was last around the forum - but hopefully I'm wrong ?

I knew from the get go it would be a slow and iterative process. The best thing people can do it head over to the wiki and help out! Just filling in a few things a data will make a huge difference!

Encourage others to help out. If you want to be the expert on a particular subject and research it alone, just include your name on the page and that will become your page and credited to you!
