What do you all work as?
I'm too young to work (stupid laws), but I teach fiddle, and I have 5 pupils. I had many more, but they all found a bad excuse, and quitted. And I hope that's because  they didn't think fiddle playing was too fun.
Fiddle teaching isn't thought about as a dream work, but I really do like it. I've been working with it since autumn last year, and I think I've got better by teaching.

So, what do you other slinger work with?

Gard

Metal, I am a machinist. I can heat treat steel, machine it, weld it, and run a cnc mill and lathe on it.

My job is a tedious, and exausting. It involves sitting my butt on my chair 9 hours a day and working on my 3d game  ;D :P

I am a programmer for my parents firm.

I want a new job, however. Anyone in the north west need a hand with anything? :P

I'm unemployed, but have found a suprising amount of work putting up Christmas lights for people around town.

we stoped dilivering about 5 years ago ;D

I also do alot of grass mowing, apple picking, snow shoveling, and heavy lifting. :)

I can program C++, VisualBasic, HTML...totally useless with pascal though.

Librarian. Actually, just generally being moony brained and crazy occupies most of my time, but for 37.5 hours a week, I sit in the library and try to hide it. Not always successful, but as long as I keep baking for the library ladies (and the hot girl with whom I work) they seem to turn a blind eye to most of my shenanigans.

I want to be a librarian, but I have no organizational skills.

There'd only be two sections: Books that suck and books that rock.

We actually have a hellacious amount of DVD's. We have, in our library alone, more than 2000 titles on DVD, and I think our central branch has about 3 times that many. Too many really; the libraries have started to turn into Blockbuster video and stations for free internet access. People don't really read that much anymore. I've been in The System for four years, and there have been noticeable changes in the collection in terms of phasing out book and ordering more DVD's than the library can afford in one year. And people still complain about our selection. There's not really much organisation to it, really. It's mostly sweeping book barcodes under a scanner. I work in the front desk, where everything gets checked in and out. My biggest problem with it is that it is easily the most mind-numbing, sedentary job I have ever worked. But, I repeat, I get to work with a really beautiful girl several times a week, so I haven't rioted yet.

OpenGL is an animal I have ignored and never had much knowledge about, but I do know lots of open source games use it.

funny story

one day at work i said to my boss:
"Man i wish more women would walk in here and i wish the ones who did did not have boy friends twice my size!"

and wouldnt you know it? a 70 year old lady walks in, with a girl about 5 years old

and my boss says
"Hey i bet you could beat up there boyfriends!"

I am a human resources officer for a political organization...sit in a chair all day, hire, fire, recruit, health and safety, policy, policy, policy, legal and personnel issues...and finally mail a letter ;D.

Thats about it for me!

Im still in school but I guess I can say Im an artist. I spend my time making things...anything. And researching anthropology and philosophy on ancient cultures and religions, I want to go to University for it, then take an apprenticeship as a blacksmith.

I wanted to take an apprenticeship smithing, but it is impossible to find smithies here looking for workers.

I often give my job title as "Gentleman of Leisure", I don't think it goes down too well.

Second, I just have to go to University FIRST before I do it. I made a deal with my parents. ::)

Oh, I don't know, Doug, I wake up with knives under my pillow and that short sword under the mattress and the blade on the holster strapped to my shin, and that one on the left thigh, and the small blades strapped to my forearm every morning and I still seem to be in one piece. Well, except for that piece I lost when I flying tackled that grizz that one time at wilderness camp. that's why I sleep with all those blades. One day, that grizz may come gunnin' fer 'is eye. And when he does, I'll be ready for him.  8)

Oh yeah, like the time my snake dagger nearly went up my - never mind. Very odd  ???

The worst though, seriously, was the time I went to squat down when I was camping, and the knife I had attached to my hip managed to poke through the cheap sheath I bought with it unbeknownst to me, and I stabbed myself in the calf with the end of the bloody knife. Just a little bit though, but enough to let me know what I had done and draw blood for about 15 minutes.

 I work for the Veteran's Administration hospital ( for now)  in the sign making department. I am also a Boy Scout leader and a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism. Somehow I also manage to do work as a freelance artist.  

I sleep with sharp things above my bed, and beside my bed but not in my bed. I did wear chain mail and a sword to bed once just to see how it was like.

Don't you just love amateurs - turning what should have abeen a 5 minute job into a four hour pig of a system reset.
Oh yes I can pronounce the word 'amateurs' with the kind of venom most people can only produce in a slew of four letter words. :-)
That said, they do make me lots of money - but then so does bill gates and I would quite happily beat him to death with a loofah. It might take a couple of days - but that would be the fun :-)

And while I do sleep with a decent sized knife within reach (in my bedside cabinet drawer) and a decent sized club to grab as I leave my bedroom in search of the idiot who's just broken in and needs 'saving' from the dogs :-). Never actually had a knife in my bed - that is a little 'odd' :-)

Armor made of busted tires, cardboard, and patched together with elmers glue and duct tape, with the confederate flag painted on the front.

His weapon is a great club, carved from the finest ( and most brittle and crooked ) pecan wood, with bent nails sticking out of it. The handle is covered with duct tape, which shines in the sun  :D

I am a teacher here in Rio de Janeiro, and a professional handcrafter (I think this is the right word, Iam not sure) - I make hand-made decorative works using a vertical loom. This last activity is new, I became to do it professionaly only this year... it helped me to get enough money (few money, I must say ::) and stop giving classes for some time, as I listened to several courses on blind and vision impaired peole education during this year - and they were all-day courses, so I couldn't teach .

Oh, no, I think he's pretty funny, especially when he's off his meds, and sometimes, when he takes some that aren't his own, but we try not to encourage him, bk's right. All part of the therapy. I only wish my own therapy had been that passive. The whole tight jacket thing and the doctors with their hands of blue...and the needles and the Things.

I did not even know i was on any meds. hmm...maybe that candy i found in the medicen cabnet was not candy..
