hey in all the thought on primitive weaponry I got to thinking...What about ancient and primitive medicine... well if a stray rock or asomthing hits me why not use the primitive methods of healing... just a thought... :)

Okay - what does stinging nettle cure ?

I've got a culpeppers herbal around somewhere, but not entirely convinced that sympathetic medicine works (ie you treat the part of the body that the plant looks like)

Plantain is my fave!! It actually seems to take the pain away from something like a cut, where it stings. You can also live off of it, but I find it tastes strangely like butter. If anyone wants to know one of the thousands of uses, I have a lot of links. Just let me know.

And how do you cure sore throat by the primitive way?

 Slippery elm or carefully prepared sumac bark is a good gargle for sore throats.
  My favorite is jewelweed. Its a common plant thats good for poison ivy, bug bites, rashes, etc.

Stinging nettle, the only contact I have had with that plant is in Newfoundland, where it leaves bee sting like injuries upon the skin.

What part of it would be helpful to heal?

I have been studying primitive and holistic medicines and looking up to create a medicine wheel. For a topical injury, I would probably make some sort of poultice to dull the pain. Or something like white cedar tea!

Loh, I would think you would make a tea, something to drink that could coat the throat and relieve it? I hear golden-thread can be used as a mouthwash for sore throats.

One medacine that i have heard of is urine. Not for medacine but for setralzation of wounds. I read this in  a Field and stream magazine. Your own urine of course. I guess the ammouna in it is better to use than nothing.

As for minor wounds,your own saliva is the natural medicine .It can prevent bacteria from entering your wounds and helps to heal faster.

You can use aloe-vera juice to relieve muscle ache.Those are what I know.

day lilly roots are a good laxitive as are grapes and mullberries. why?

If in case I go somewhere far away from my home,and there I can't get enough fibers,I'll get constipation.

By the way,how much should I take in order to have the effect?(for grapes)   Do prunes work?

It's true, using urine to make ammonia has been known since the Egyptians. All you need do is let it sit, and it changes on its own. This is why cat litterboxes smell like ammonia when you let them sit. :-X
    However, as a medicinal, I wouldnt recommend it. What it was used for in those days was a mordant for cloth dyeing, and as an ingredient in wood stains.
  Also, there is a way to extract saltpetre from urine, basically doing the same thing, but it takes a loooong time.

proably not. I think people think that Chinese medacine  is all correct. It is not. About half of the chinese mediace will be gone in 50 years with the exstection of bears, rhinos and tigers.

I believe that a medicine works if it has been used by many cultures that haven't had contact with eachother. If something has been used that much, it must work at least a little.

Again, depending on how it is prepared if it is holistic.

I love the interest in primitive medicine that I have brought about. I also found an odd remedy for snakebite but it includes an ingredient I'm not familiar with. Its onion mixed with rue and honey applied to the wound and taken internally. If you know what rue is could you let me know? I wonder if that would work... only one way to test it but I dont want to hurt anyone in the process.

I would think heavily that given the difference in snake venom chemical composition, it would have to be a pretty species-specific sort of cure. Some snake's venoms are neurotoxic, others are sarcopahgous, some are paralytic
