Yikes! :o I  bet they aren't slinging tennis balls.... (like those SCA softies) As fun as it would be to have a giant sling battle, I'm not sure about:
  • Getting whacked with one of those metal tipped "whips"
  • Getting whacked with a fist sized rock
  • Confidence in my ability to sling while kneeling on horseback (didn't we have a thread about this?)
  • Having my women "borrowed"
The drinking and music and slinging sound fun though, maybe a model for the first ever Slinging.org meet...

Most interesting, maybe the only ritual sling battle nowadays. IŽll search more about it. The Balearics of Mallorca in the XVI century also had a similar battle,  fighting the differents districts of the citty, mainly on Sundays  ;D ...  and it was also frequent to have injured people and sometimes deads.

Yeah, it seems to be the most exciting kind of play with sling but... a litlle bit unhealthy  ;D

Well... just a play for true slingers only ;)

Yeah, very unhealthy, and sometimes IŽve thought that it could be organized these type of battles with sling in an inoffensive way thanks to the technology,  using projectiles like those of paintball, that stain but do not kill  ;D. Perhaps this would help this noble discipline of the sling to become more popular and amusing.

Slinging equal to paintball would be to use tennis balls rolled in colored chalk dust as ammo.   Different colored chalk for different teams.   Could be fun, but tough to carry much ammo at one time.    mgreenfield

Cool Idea MG! Each team could carry a bag with their color of chalk and 5-6 tennis balls rolling around in it.

If you hit your enemy in his chaulk bag it would look like he exploded! ;D This is cool --- but I haven't even read what the topic is ::) Maybe I should go back and read what you are all discussung.
