Just saying hello and thank you for accepting me.

Very much into my bushcraft / survival skills and wanted a new hobby to compliment other hobbies, plus, I want to get a bit fitter too.

Made 2 paracord Balearic slings so far from one length.  One the longest is 30 inch folded and struggle at that length.  The other at 20 inch folded which is great, but too short, so just trying to find a middle ground.  Only been going at it for about 2 weeks, but already addicted.  :o

Nice sling design - I'm a big fan of the thin cords with a thicker pouch. Would be interested to hear where you go to sling (and what you sling there) - I've been throwing rocks down at my local river and it's a bit too public for my liking so would be open to suggestions!

Thank you for the welcomes and compliments on the slings, going to make a much more advance sling in the next couple of days when the Paracord arrives.  Thinking of going down the Dyneema route in the future.

Hey Mark1, I am only throwing tennis balls across the local football fields at the moment.  I am just north of Bristol, so haven't found a decent rock slinging location yet where I wont take someone's head off!  Where in the UK roughly are you?

Tennis balls are definitely worth practicing with before rocks! If you can find one of those cricket cage things they're a great place to practice (or even a large brick wall), but a football field will work perfectly well (and will certainly help get your steps in). Best of luck finding somewhere quiet to sling some rocks - it's definitely worth the effort! I'm based up in Cheshire at the moment.

Thanks for the advice Mark, on a weight loss journey at the moment so happy chasing Tennis balls for now, oh and my first whip crack too!  If we are ever in each others neck of the woods, lets ping a message.  Made a Channing's Practical Paracord sling today with a gradual taper on the release and still cant master it!  >:(

Very nice sling - what length have you gone for? Have been working on my first natural fibre sling recently (jute twine) - still need to burn off the hairs and give it a wax but I'm happy with how it turned out! The release cord tapers down with some dyneema fishing line spliced in to give it some longevity. If I ever happen to be down Bristol way I'll let you know!
