I grew up in Europe and have been slinging for close to 30 years. When I was a kid I was deadly at it. I have always made my own slings. Leather from old shoes seem to work the best for me.
My favorite part about slinging is to take oddly shaped rocks and shoot them at high speeds so they make crazy sounds.
My technique is rustic or figure 8 and I seem to be able to generate a lot of force.

Have you been slinging on and off for 30 years or consistently slinging?

I have not been slinging consistently over the last 30 years.
Over the years I have randomly pulled out my sling and terrorized friends and family alike.
Most people think that they will get hit next and try to hide during my slinging.
My technique feels like an extension of my trowing arm and quite natural to me.

Like your style ... pretty much what I use but I don't throw with that much force.

i love using all sorts of different projectiles. 2p coins are the best, makes a humming, whirring sound and flies in a spherical helix kind of pattern :)

I had another good look at your video and discovered with HD off it's much clearer. Your technique is excellent. I am especially interested in knowing where and how you learned your style. If you have been doing it that way for 30 years then you would probably be one of the pioneers of the Fig.8 style.
