I'm just wondering:
Have any of you sold or traded your 'primitive' products off of this site? I think it would be cool to share any experiences, we may be able to help each other out.

i am thinking about trying to put some slings up on ebay in the next few months.  i have not yet tried anything of the sort though.  i noticed that there are no slings on ebay, so perhaps there is no market for them, but perhaps that means the demand is high, and there are simply no supliers(which is good for bussiness, btw)

it would definately be interesting to see if slings would go well on ebay

i'm afraid that no one would bid on them just becuase they would never think to look on ebay for slings

you might get a lot more attention by attempting to sell them with the higher priced advertising schemes that ebay offers
they offer a feature to get your item on the main home page, that might attract many many item views

who knows

i too would be interested in hearing about other ppl's "business" with our primitive hobby

hmmm maybe we could start a partener ship some body making leather slings some body making braided and or weaved somebody else selling ammo.
we could make it a multi market venture. using direct sales ebay and say craft fairs plus gun and knife shows complete with demostations

haha, I think it would be a hard enough business to make money in, even if you had a total monopoly. Just as well, count me in :)

P.S. Speaking of leather... I HIT A HUGE JACKPOT. I found about a 6x5 foot piece of heavy black leather in my basement. It was folded up into the cieling (top levels floor boards). How's that for crazy luck?

As for busness thoughts I think the demo's and free lesson would be cue.  
Because we would have to boost the popularity of the sling.
But Just imagine a demo At a gun show, somebody with a sling smashing cast iron skillets with lead cored steel jacketed ammo. Then giving free lesson with each sling sold

i think that instead of giving free lessons, put together a little booklet with the basic styles, a suggestion to use ping pong or tennis balls until you are comfortable with the sling, several referances to this site and forum, and last but not least: an iron clad disclaimer.

perhaps someone could make those concrete ammo as described in one of the articles, and sell buckets of them for something like 2 cents each(each glande, not each bucket), as well as some of lobohunter's specialized ammo.

it could be quite an enterprise.  perhaps we should set up a store-ring on ebay, so when you see a sling, you also see all the other slings and ammo, etc.  wow...i can see it all now.  having this forum flooded with new, inexperianced members, being able to teach them all of the ways of the sling.

ps: i think that it is hard to even get a stone to go forward for alot of people when they first pick up the sling.  i have tried to teach a few people, resulting in people getting whipped in the face with the tail, my hackeysack getting stuck in the gym celing, and a red mark on my collar bone, to highlight the highlights.  a booklet would allow them to see it and think about it before trying, then they could ask the vendor any further questions.

Sounds like quite the plan, I'll write the literature and make various things. As long as we don't bring slings to the attention of the burecrats...

so are we going forth with this?  it would take months of preparation.

if you frequent them, maybe you could get a booth(which can be very expensive) and everyone could ship the stuff to you, and you could set up the booth there.

well untill recenly I did that for a living. I am strating to get back into it. But we shall I beleave we need a lot of distubitors fairs would be a fun place also. Maybe even set up a carnival game with a sling lol
I beleave the book is a great idea. I also see some basic one one instruction needed.
One main prob with learning the sling is the mis information thats already out there. such as the helicopter wind up.

You can put slings and accesories on consignment in local musuems or historical organizations. You could also organize an annual slinging field day.
