Title: Did the Knight Templars use slingers? Post by bigkahuna on Mar 10th, 2006 at 4:24am
Was there ever a Corps or body of slingers attached to or part of the organization known as the Knights Templars ?

both, but those where king arthurs knights not not templar. I dont think they would use slingers, the knights templar seem to be more a branch of the military then an army in there own right. They where on there own yes but they only would of had knights. Ill stop now im confuseing my self :-/

The Knights Templars had different levels and not all were actual "Knights" in the sense that they were heavily armoured, mounted troops. They also had their own archers, so why not slingers? ???

I imagine their slingers might well be mixed in with the archers, if they had them.

No... They were flung into the "Gorge of eternal peril" (perhaps you can remember what "peril" is from the tale of Sir Galahad the Pure) by a spring-loaded device much like a catapult. It'd be too hard to sling someone without tying them up anyway. You'd have to use a trebuchet-like device just to sling such a large mass. (Did you know that at least one person in history has been trebuchet-ed into a stone wall?) |

Hahaha, yeah. One thing I love about the middle ages was how creative they were. I heard William the Conquorer would capture people trying to escape from a beseiged castle, and catapult their heads back into it.

I dont think that was them maybe hospitalers? it was something about how poor they where. if it where a big horse it would almost be an advantage to have a "Wing man" :)

I'd rather face the peril of the Castle Anthrax than be slung into the pit. ;D ;D

Well, logically, it'd make more sense to want to be flung into the Gorge of Eternal Peril. After all, Castle Anthrax was just perilous. The Gorge was that of Eternal Peril. |

well jugs of spring water here are 50 cents each. Now we have a familey of 6 and we dont even use the water for cooking. So we haul around 50 jugs every 10 days. So thats like 25$ every 10 days if we bought them :)
