Title: Turk's head knot (Willeke?)
Post by WildAtHeart on Jan 13th, 2006 at 4:50pm
Hey guys,

I'm currently working on a walking staff and I'd like to put an extended Turk's head knot on it. The book I have only shows it about square, but I imagine there's a way to make it really long, as in, to cover more length of the stick.

Anyone have ideas or pictures?

The first link for you is my own 2 TH (turks head knot) instructions,
http://knopen.ismijnhobby.nl/tables/turkshead_table.html and
http://knopen.ismijnhobby.nl/tables/3x4_table.html.
More instructions can be found at
http://www.khww.net/index.php
Go for the tutorials in the bottom left corner.

I know there are more links and when I find them I will add them here.

Thanks a lot. The last link is something of what I was looking for. I have a book to show me how to do a 3x4 and 4x5 knot (or something like that) but I am trying to figure out how to wrap a long distance of the walking stick. It's about 3/4 inch diameter, and I would like to wrap like a 6 inch section. I'll see what I can do with it.

If you come to find out that its not possible or it doesn't look good.  Maybe you could do a turks head on the top and bottom and some sort of braid inbetween to cover the rest.  (Think whip)

Just a thought (although you probably already thunk it)  ;)
