Throwing Sticks (fishing implement)
Oct 16th, 2020 at 6:53pm

This is my first post so hello everyone!

I was trying to watch videos on throwing sticks as used in hunting.
I stumbled across something used to throw bait when fishing.
It also happens to be called a throwing stick.
This appears to be very similar to a device timpa made from a shovel handle (http://slinging.org/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1601762883), although the curve makes me think it has a more natural release and might make it more easy to put more power in the throw.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7o48Bn382Ic&ab_channel=ACAProducts

Has anyone seen anything like this?
Is there a weapon I haven't heard of?

In the video he mentions throwing bait (probably not the densest projectile) 175 yards.

Ah but Tomberlaine, that's a rabbit stick where you throw the whole stick, with the bait thrower you put the bait in the end then swing the stick to throw it. It works more like these tennis ball throwers:

You don't actually throw the stick I showed.
The stick I am showing is hollow (it is a tube) and used to throw projectiles.
Your PDF looks interesting.
I wish I could read it haha

Thank you!
Similar to that or the skepifletta mentioned in this thread: http://slinging.org/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1601762883
But the tube is hollow, just like the the tube thrower that thread is about.

I would love to get one of those but the shipping to Finland is just a bit too high to justify right now. I've got the store page bookmarked though Cheesy

Kick, make one.  Start simple with plywood or even scrap wood.  You'll learn more that way.

I have plans for one but finding the time to carve one out to then split it and have to start again... yeah... I do want to have a go and will eventually get around to it.
